County facilities will be closed on the following  holidays this quarter:    September 4 – Labor Day   November 10 – Veteran’s Day     November 23‐24 – Thanksgiving                 Open Gym  The Recreation Center Gym is available for open play when no program or rental is scheduled.  Call prior to your visit for open gym  hours.  The fees for open gym are $2 each day for adults and $1 each day for children ages 12 and under.    Website  Event cancellations due to inclement weather, etc. are posted on our website at www.crpa.net under “Updates.” You may also find  additional information on our parks & facilities and program registration.    Advisory Board  A Recreation Advisory Board has been appointed by the Board of Commissioners to act as a guide for CRPA in planning and  implementation of public recreational activities and programs as well as offering advice on a system of parks and facilities that will  accommodate the needs of the public. Board members’ terms run concurrent with appointing Board of Commissioners.     Photograph/Video Policy  On occasion, CRPA may photograph or videotape registrants, participants, and spectators in Agency programs, special events, or  facilities.  Such photographs are for Agency use only and may be used in publications, brochures, pamphlets, flyers, websites or  video productions.

November 1-November 30 Compete with other lap swimmers to see who can complete the most laps in the month of November. A log will be kept at the lifeguard table on the pool deck. There is no cost for participating, but if you swim the most, you will win an Adult Annual pass to the Aquatic Center.

Indoor Pool Fun It’s a Wibit… Come join us for Sunday Wibit days 1-5pm No extra fee, just your normal daily admissions. Children must be able to pass a 25yd swim test to use the Wibit. October 1, November 5

Requests will only be considered if they’re filled out completely, this includes contact information. Lessons are usually offered in packs of 4, 6 or 8 lessons depending on the session (most sessions do not have 8 classes available).

Class Objective

Build on the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency in a pool environment. Improve participants’ proficiency in performing the swimming strokes that were introduced in Level 3. Help participants refine their performance of all six swimming strokes (i.e., front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke) Water adjustment and introduction to swimming skills.

REGISTRATION for September, October, November

classes begins Monday, August 7- at 9:00am. Registration is available online at www.crpa.net by clicking the “Register Now” button on the left of the page, or at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center Front Desk. Registration for all classes ends 5 days before the first class of the session at 5:00pm. Classes with fewer than 3 students will be cancelled. Late registration will be charged a fee of $5.00. Late registration is not guaranteed. Please note, make-up lessons are not offered unless the class is cancelled by the Aquatic Center for unforeseen circumstances. We accept Cash, Check, Visa, Master Card, & Discover. All Debit/Credit cards will be charged a transaction fee.

Refund/Credit Policy:

If you cancel a session 11 or more days prior to the first class, you can receive a refund less the $5 processing fee. You may also choose to move the payment to the next session of your choice and the processing fee will be waived. If you cancel a class session within 10 days of the first class you will be offered a 50% refund. (If the class has already begun, you will also be prorated for any classes that have occurred.) To request a refund, you must fill out a refund request form at the Aquatic Center Front Desk.

Transfers:

If you have registered for a class and need to be moved to a different class, email cagordon@cherokeega.com with the subject line “Transfer Request” Please note the Participant’s Name, What class they’re registered for, and which specific class you would like to transfer them to. Please note transfers are not guaranteed, and will be granted based on availability.

HATHA YOGA    Date:        Ongoing   Day/Time:  Wednesdays at 6:15pm  Ages:                15 years or older  Cost:                 $12.00/class  Location:   Classroom A    Hatha yoga is a branch of yoga that emphasizes physical  exercises to master the body along with mind exercises  to withdraw it from external objects. You don’t want to  miss out on this class.    MASTERS SWIMMING    Date:        Ongoing   Day/Time:  Mondays & Wednesdays 7:00‐7:50pm  Ages:                18 years or older  Cost:                 $50 for 10 punches or   $100 for 20 punches or $6 drop‐in fee    This program is great for former competitive swimmers  who  want  to  get  back  in  the  water,  and  triathletes.  Swimmers  must  be  able  to  swim  at  least  200  yards  continuously.  We  will  focus  on  endurance  and  stroke  refinement/technique,  but  our  goal  is  to  provide  work  outs that match your training needs.     Registration  for  a  punch  pass  is  available  online  at  www.crpa.net, or in person at the Aquatic Center Front  Desk.  Punch  passes  are  valid  for  90  days.  Drop‐in’s  are  only available at the front desk.    SPLISH SPLASH CAMP  Dates:    September 18‐ 22 (M‐F 7:30am‐6:00pm)‐ $175    November 7 (Tue 7:30am‐6:00pm)‐$35    November 20‐22 (M‐W 7:30am‐6:00pm)‐ $115  Ages:     6‐13    The Splish Splash Break Camp at the Cherokee County  Aquatic center is a fun way for your children to spend  their school breaks! We have lots of pool fun and take a  couple of off‐site trips to break up the week. All children  must be able to swim 25 yards continuously with‐out  assistance or stopping to be eligible for this camp. Price  for the camp includes a tee‐shirt, trips and lunch on trip  days. There is no trip & no tee shirt for the 1‐day camps.    7:30‐9:00 Drop‐off; 9:00‐4:00 Camp Activities; 4:00‐6:00  Pick‐Up Time

CCAC Red Cross Safety Classes

Lifeguard Class ‐ Blended Learning  Ages:                15 years or older  Cost:                 $200   

This class will provide you with an American Red Cross  Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR for Professional Rescuer, Nationally  recognized Certification.     You must be 15 years of age by the last day of class and be  able to complete the following skills on the first day to be  able to continue the class:  swim 300 yds. Continuously,  tread water for two minutes legs only, and retrieve 10lb.  brick from 7 ft of water.  Students must attend every day of  class, and be on time to class, and pass all exams to  become certified.   

For this class you will need to come prepared to swim  every day, and be on the floor for training. Please bring a  packed lunch or you may purchase food at our concessions  stand. Blended learning will have about 7 hours of online  learning that students will need to start before the first day  of class.

This class will certify you to teach lifeguard training.  All candidates must have a current lifeguard  certification before taking this class and be able to  perform all lifeguard skills to the Red Cross standard.

  Water Safety Instructor (WSI) ‐ Blended Learning  Ages:     16 years or older  Cost:    $225    This class will certify you to teach swim lessons and  other water safety programs offered through the Red  Cross. All candidates must be able to pass a swim test  of: 25 yards front crawl, 25 yards back crawl, 25 yards  elementary back stroke, 25 yards side stroke, 25 yards  breast stroke, 15 yards butterfly, 2 minutes of floating  on your back & 2 minutes of treading water.     For this class you will need to come prepared to swim  every day. Students must attend every day of class, be  on time to class, and pass all exams and teaching  assignments to become certified.      Date(s):   January 2‐4    Day/Time:  Tuesday‐Thursday (9:00‐6:00)    Babysitting  The course focuses on building a foundation of  knowledge, attitudes and skills of future Babysitters.   Ages:     11‐15 years old     Cost:      $55    September 21    Date:     Thursday (10:00‐3:00)     Day/Time:   Date:     November 18      Day/Time:   Saturday (9:00‐2:00)

PELICANS Club & Developmental About Us: We provide a fun and safe environment for kids in Cherokee County to swim. We are dedicated to growing their love of the sport, and improving their strokes while also building friendships and having fun! Swimmer Requirements: Children must be at least 5 years old and all children must pass a try-out prior to registering. Try-outs are required to place children in the correct skill group. Cost: Club- $160 Annual registration fee, due at registration. (Includes USA Swimmer registration fees, swim cap, and a t-shirt). Program fees will be monthly, due to be paid by the 1st Monday of each month. 1x/week- $30/month – White 2x/week- $60/month – White & Teal; $70- Black 3x/Week-$90/month – Teal; $105– Black Dry-Land Training- $20/month Developmental- $30 Quarterly registration fee, due at registration. (Includes swim cap and a t-shirt). Program fees will be quarterly, to be paid when initial registration occurs. 1x/week- $90/quarter 2x/week- $180/quarter The Season: Club- August-April; ongoing. PELICANS Summer Swim Team Registration: Open Starting July 1 available at the Aquatic Center front desk only. Note– Registration must be completed before your child starts practice. Dogs will not be allowed entry without proof of the aforementioned vaccines. All dogs must also be spayed or neutered. Owners may not swim with their dogs– this swim is for dogs only! Dogs must swim at their owners risk. Unruly dogs will be asked to leave. Owners must clean up after their dogs. Female dogs in heat will not be allowed.

FIT4BABY 

Pregnancy is the perfect time to commit to you and your baby's health! Exercise is an important component to your pregnant  wellbeing, as well as your strength as a new mom. Fit4Baby® is a program designed to strengthen the body for all the changes it will  experience during pregnancy. Regular activity such as Fit4Baby® classes can help to reduce many maternal aches and pains, increase  energy during pregnancy and may speed the labor, delivery and recovery process. According to the American College of  Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), exercise is just as important during pregnancy as any other time of life. We train and certify  our Fit4Baby® instructors so they are fully equipped to lead pregnant woman in exercises that are safe and appropriate for her  changing body. Fit4Baby® classes are interval based, combining elements of strength training, cardiovascular exercises and  stretching and balancing exercises. Fit4Baby®: helping soon‐to‐be mothers find the STRENGTH FOR MOTHERHOOD!  space is limited!  Date  June 29

REGISTRATION INFORMATION  General Information   Registration begins Monday, August 7 2017 for  most programs, unless otherwise noted. Early  registration is not permitted.   Registration can be completed online (for most  programs) or in person at the Recreation or  Aquatic Center.    Returned checks are subject to a $35 fee.   A transaction fee is charged on ALL  debit/credit card purchases.    Registration is taken during normal business  hours at the Recreation Center.   Registration and Pass sales are available from  9am to 30 minutes prior to close at the Aquatic  Center.    When paying in cash, please have the correct  amount.    Cancellation Policy   All classes not meeting minimum enrollment  will be postponed or canceled. Program  minimums are five (5) participants unless  otherwise noted.   If your class is cancelled, you will be notified.  Classes may be cancelled due to low  enrollment, inclement weather or instructor  availability.   A full refund will be given for CRPA cancellation  of classes.    Refunds nor make‐ups are given for programs  missed due to personal reasons.      Credit/Refund Information   All refund/credit requests must be completed in  person during regular business hours.   Refund/credit requests must be completed at  least five (5) working days prior to the beginning  date of the program.    Refund/credit requests must be in writing and are  subject to approval by the Cherokee Recreation  and Parks Agency staff.    Refunds may take up to 30 days for processing.  There are No Cash Refunds.   Participants requesting a refund will be charged  a $5 administrative fee.  Transaction fees will  not be refunded. *The $5 processing fee will be  waived for credits*   For Aquatic Center refund policies, please see  page 5.        770‐924‐7768 

Scholarship Program   A family or individual can apply for a scholarship  one time per calendar year (1/1‐12/30). Some  restrictions DO apply.  Applications must be  received ten (10) business days prior to the end  registration date. Call 770‐924‐7768 for details  and applications.     Registration Requirements   If a participant requires any special  accommodations, the Program Coordinator is  required to be notified fifteen (15) business  days prior to the beginning of the program in  order to attempt to accommodate.   Age and gender requirements can be found  under the program descriptions on each page.    Participants (or their parents or guardians) must  sign a waiver/release form prior to participation  in any program.
