Time flies when you are having fun! CARD’s “Fun Over 50” Programs moved out to Lakeside Pavilion just over one year ago. During that time, we have been hard at work creating opportunities to keep you active and engaged. We have a wonderful selection of Fitness Programs, a great offering of Local and Extended Trips and a variety of Computer Classes. Join our new groups: The Sack Lunch Bunch and the 55 Plus Club.

Healing Yoga: A Breath Based & Therapeutic Approach This class is perfect for beginners, seniors, those recovering from injuries, or anyone who might otherwise have a yoga-phobia! Many of the health benefits of yoga can be achieved from a seated position. In this class, you will learn how to link breath with movements of the body in order to maximize the detoxifying and stress-reducing effects of yoga. Healing Yoga Workshops
Healing Yoga is yoga with a mission! These workshops aim to introduce the world of yoga to those who may not otherwise be able to perform some of the movements found in mainstream yoga. In addition, these classes are designed to personalize the experience for each student. Students will leave our workshops feeling refreshed, confident, and educated so that they may further benefit from future yoga classes.
â€œStiff as a Board Yogaâ€?TM A Gentle Introduction to Healing Yoga If you have ever been reluctant to walk into a yoga class for fear that you would not be able to contort your body into the various yoga poses, you are NOT alone! Fitness for Parkinson’s Patients Don’t be afraid to move! We invite you to join a group class for individuals living with Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, or other movement disorders. Strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination exercises designed to keep you moving are presented in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Most of the class is done seated and includes graceful movement drawn from yoga and dance to ease stiffness and improve mobility. Where appropriate, we will progress to movement strategies and standing exercises done with or without support to further address balance, hip flexibility, and leg strength. 9:30 class is slightly more challenging. Zumba We have created Zumba速 Punch Cards for all of our Zumba速 classes. In addition to our regular Zumba速 classes, we have added several new selections! If you are interested in purchasing a punch card, please select the number of classes you would like and simply purchase your punch card. The card will be waiting for you on the first day of class. Cards are held by the instructor so you never have to worry about losing it! Punch cards are good for one month from the date of purchase. If you are purchasing a class card mid-month, please purchase your card at the CARD office or from the instructor. Unfortunately, cards are nonrefundable and non-transferable. What’s New with Medicare in 2014 The annual enrollment period for Part D drug plans and Part C Medicare Advantage plans will begin on Oct. 15 and will end on Dec. 7, 2013. AARP Mature Driving Classes The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation’s first and largest classroom refresher course for drivers aged 50 and older. This class is offered by AARP each month. Apple Hill After a motor-coach ride to the beautiful Apple Hill country, we will arrive at High Hill Ranch. There you will enjoy a delicious chicken lunch with all the fresh apple cider you can drink and a piece of fresh apple pie ala mode for desert! The Great Dickens Christmas Fair Celebrate the holidays in Charles Dickens London Town. The Cow Palace is transformed into Victorian London complete with hundreds of costumed players from literature and history, music halls, pubs, dance floors and Christmas shops. No host dinner stop on the way home. Must register by 11/20.

Christmas Lights Tour Enjoy an evening aboard the mini bus as we take in the sights of the Christmas season. We will follow the newspaper route, sing carols, sip cocoa and nibble on cookies! Just sit back and enjoy this holiday tradition! Must register by 12/2.

At the Chico Area Recreation and Park District, we are constantly striving to provide you with quality recreation programs. We are confident that you will like these programsâ€Ś so confident that we will ensure our promise to provide that high quality. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with the quality of our programs or instructors, we encourage you to contact us immediately so we can work to resolve your concern and improve the quality of our programs for all participants. If you are not completely satisfied, contact us and we will arrange for you to do one of the following. 1. Repeat the program at no charge. 2. Receive full credit that can be applied to any other program. 3. Receive a full refund. Currently, this guarantee applies to all of our programs except Adult Leagues, Facility Rentals, Trips and Tours, and all grant/scholarship funded programs. These programs have specific policies that apply. Your complete satisfaction with these programs is equally valued, and we will work with you to resolve your concerns. To receive a credit, repeat a program, or obtain a refund, please contact us in writing, by phone, by email, or in person. Requests must be made within ten (10) business days after the last program meeting. Your receipt, cancelled check or proof of I.D. may be required. Refund checks will be processed within fifteen (15) business days.
In the event CARD needs to cancel a class or program due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or any other unforeseen circumstance, you will receive a full refund of the registration fee. We understand that unexpected circumstances may also arise resulting in a need for you to withdraw from a class or program. If so, please notify us prior to the first day of the class, and you will receive a full refund. Unfortunately, due to the nature of some of our programs, there are some exceptions. Please refer to the program for additional information and exceptions. Requests for refunds or transfers may be made in person, by email or by phone. Your receipt, cancelled check or proof of identification may be required. Refund checks will be processed within fifteen (15) business days.
