Ball grinding

Valve Ball Grinding Machines Plantool’s grinding machines are designed for manufacturing of metal balls of high precision valves. Balls up to 2100 mm in diameter can be machined. Machining is done with segmented grinding wheels. Power range of the vibrationless quality spindle is 22 – 92 kW. Extra equipment includes automatic ball measurement, diamond wheel dressing and automatic tool change.

BGM 600 and 800 machines have slant bed grinding spindle axis and BGM 1300, 1800 and 2100 machines feature horizontal grinding spindles. In all machines there is a possibility to adjust y-axis for positioning of the spindle compared to ball’s horizontal centre line. The machine bed is designed so that the grinding waste will be flushed away from inside of the machine to liquid handling system BGM machines are controlled either with CNC or PLC systems.

Servo controllers – braking energy can be fed to the use of other motors or back to the factory electric grid. The control of the machine is done from 12” NC-operation panel, graphical user interface. The control system is also equipped with hand held panel.

Valve Seat Ring Grinding Machines Machines for grinding valve seat rings are suitable for 100 – 1700 mm seat dimensions. The grinding is done with cup wheel tools. Power range of the vibrationless quality spindles varies between 5,5 – 10 kW and the rotation speed 0 – 10 000 rpm. The machines have three axes, all of which are servo driven. Extra equipment includes cooling unit for spindle and coolant, automatic tool change and a complete liquid filtering system.

RGM machines have been designed to high quality grinding needs – also for coated rings. Spindle positioning axes are equipped with accurate electronic linear scales. High quality finished parts can be achieved by almost zero run-out of the clamping chuck.

For the clamping of the ring the machine can be equipped with manual or there can be chuck with hydraulic clamping function.

The coolant passes to the tool through the spindle. The waste produced in the grinding operation is separated from the coolant by filtering. The machine bed is designed so that the dust and grinding waste will be flushed away from inside of the machine to liquid handling and filtration systems.

For the clamping of the ring the machine can be equipped with manual or hydraulic chuck or there can be chuck with hydraulic clamping function. Operator friendly control system makes the use of the machines easy. RGM machines are controlled either with CNC or PLC systems. For it’s user interface the machine has a 10” touch screen panel.

The grinding tool can be sharpened several times inside the machine without unclamping the heavy tools.

Large tools can be changed automatically. Next tool can always be in waiting position.

RGM Grinding Machines The Plantool Seat Ring Grinding Machines offer a range of options for the customer to choose from. Machines can be equipped with different types of coolant handling and filtration systems depending on customer’s needs. Spindle motor can be cooled with air or with liquid circulation system. Grinding tools can be changed automatically from the magazine It is also possible to have hydraulic clamping system to RGM 600 model.
