t’s Thursday, and today we’ll talk about a topic that we had previously touched, but it seems it can not be solved: forest fires. In the last hours, the fire in the Sierra de San Miguelito, which seemed to be about to be controlled, was rekindled causing great concern among those living in San Luis Potosi, as smoke and fire are getting closer and closer to the stain urban The adverse conditions of the winds made combat actions of the fire difficult; however, from 7:00 am on Wednesday, more groups of combatants joined the brigades that stayed overnight to advance in the control through the elaboration of firebreaks. Yesterday, three helicopters were used in combat tasks, two for the discharge of water and one for the transfer of personnel and provisions, and around 2:30 a.m. the decision was made to suspend activities in a preventive manner to avoid putting the danger to the personnel, since the most important thing is to protect the integrity of the people, because on Tuesday two people were injured, and the weather conditions in the area represented a serious risk due to the speed and sudden changes in the direction of the winds.

The State Coordination of Civil Protection warned about the possibility of the wind changing direction and could bring smoke from the fire to inhabited areas, so they recommended that in case this phenomenon is present in your community, you should stay calm and carry out some preventive measures such as avoiding physical activities in the open air, staying inside your home, school or workplace and closing doors and windows, as well as taking care of elderly people, minors and people with respiratory diseases. In addition to this, a forest fire that is still active in the state of Guanajuato has become a concern for the authorities, since it is out of control and is about to cross the border with San Luis Potosí. This fire is practically only 1 kilometer from San Luis Potosí and has an extension of 8 kilometers in front.

As part of the containment of fire, they have formed a firebreaking gap to prevent them from entering the territory of Potosí and the advantage is that they are located close to the road. In addition, work is being done to create a breach, which is intended to prevent the fire from entering San Luis Potosí. Meanwhile, something we can do to help, is to support the firefighters who work to contain these fires with supplies and materials. Girdle gloves, industrial lenses, tuna, energy bars, canned beans, biscuits, canned vegetables, whey, sweets or candies are some of the things that can be useful to continue this difficult task.

Although the fire in the Sierra de San Miguelito could not be extinguished, it remains under control, and we hope that it will soon be completely extinguished. How else do you think we can help? Tell me through social media.
