DRY FITTING APPLIANCES DRY FIT: To unpack and relocate sink or appliance, to ensure proper clearance and fit. No plumbing, electrical or sealing included. This includes leveling the appliances and securing them when they are connected to the IKEA cabinets you installed, unless otherwise noted. Debris is handled according to the estimate for the install. Specifications are required to be supplied by the customer for all appliances whether we are dry fitting them or not. All appliances that are to be dry fitted are to be in the room where the dry fit will take place. We do not provide any electrical or plumbing hook ups.
These are typical for most scenarios but may not fit every solution.
RECOMMENDED DRY FITS: Built in Oven (Single and Double ovens) – Always dry fit (new or existing). Set the oven in place to insure proper fit. Install all fillers. (Fillers for this dry fit are included in the cost of the dry fit). Secure the single or double oven using the installation screws supplied. Always drill a pilot hole when mounting the single and double ovens and do not over tighten the mounting screws. Built in Microwaves – Always dry fit (new or existing). This means install the Microwave in the cabinet according to the plan including all of its brackets and trim. Including the installation of a filler that may be needed and the cost of the filler is included in the dry fit. Extractors – Always dry fit (new or existing). This means installing the NYYTIG spacer block on the wall and mounting the extractor to the NYYTIG spacer and the cabinet above according to installation instructions provided with the extractor. Make sure the fan assembly is pointed in the correct position for the desired venting. Cut venting hole as needed. Make sure the fan direction is correct according to the directions with the unit. Do not plug in or attach any venting or vent pipe. Hobs – Dry fit only if installing IKEA laminate or butcher block counter top. Be sure to always include saddle cuts in the cabinet that the hob is to be installed in. (This should have been done prior to installing the cabinet). Saddle cut the 609.6 mm or 914.4mm base cabinet for all hobs. (57.15mm in from the back of the cabinet and 57.15mm in from the front of the cabinet, this should leave 482.6 mm. Cut 76.2mm down from the top of the cabinet). You may not have to saddle cut the 914.4mm base cabinet, verify the size of the hob to be installed. Dishwashers – Always dry fit fully integrated, panel-ready Dishwashers (considered built in), all other dishwashers may be dry fitted if requested by the customer. These are also considered built in. This means you level them and attach them to the cabinets. Use pilot holes when attaching mounting screws. Do not over tighten screws.
Ranges – Only dry fit Slide In Ranges if we are installing the worktops. A slide in range has a lip or flange on the top that sits above the worktop. Make sure the range sits high enough so the flange or lip sits just above the worktop. Make sure the cabinet height will accommodate the height of the range. We should not dry fit this type of range if an IKEA vendor or a customer supplied vendor is installing the worktop. The IKEA slide in range does not have a lip in front or on top so it doesn’t need to be dry fitted. Range Hoods – Always dry fit the EVENTUELL Built-in extractor hood pg. 45 in appliance book. All others range hoods should be dry fitted. The NYTTIG filler for the range hoods must be installed by the installer when doing the dry fit. The Range Hood or Spec sheet must be present for install of the NYYTIG filler. A GC will have to do final electrical hook ups and venting if venting is required. We will cut the cabinet for the vent when dry fitting the range hood. Sinks – Dry fit Sinks from any vendor only when IKEA Laminate/Butcher block is being installed by IKEA Kitchen Services. (No mounting of the sink, no plumbing or caulking of sinks is included). Always dry fit non IKEA apron front sinks. These typically need to be fitted prior to worktop templating (follow manufacturer’s instructions when dry fitting the non IKEA under mount apron sinks). Do not plan for or install an under mount sink to IKEA laminate or butcher block worktops. IKEA HAUSEN Apron Sink (single and double bowl) – It is important to know the thickness of the worktop in order to install the filler below the apron of the sink and above the cabinet doors. If there are no specs on the worktop thickness, we may have to charge a go back fee to fit the filler after the worktop is installed.
DO NOT NEED TO BE DRY FITTED: Freestanding Appliances – Range, Refrigerator, Mini Refrigerator, Wine Refrigerator, Washer, and Dryer. Slide-In Range – Should only be dry fitted if we are installing the worktop. Refrigerator – Does not need to be dry fitted as long as specs or appliance are available for measurements. Refrigerators are bulky and can scratch floor (See Note Below). Sink – Should only be dry fitted if we are installing the worktop. Hob – Should only be dry fitted if we are installing the worktops. Most hobs always require a saddle cut. Confirm specs and double check estimate accordingly.
Note: We should not be dry fitting any Exhaust Hoods, Built-In Panel Ready Refrigerators or any specialty appliances that would require an appliance expert or contractor (i.e. Kegerators, Panel Ready Microwaves, Under Cabinet Refrigeration etc.) Make sure you are gathering the specifications for any appliance and let the customer know that the installers may need to reference the appliance specs during install.
