Security Tips To bring customer’s awareness for various security threats involved with online operations, the Bank has taken various steps to educate its customers through display of Phishing Alerts on the Bank’s Corporate and NetBanking Website, sending Security Alerts to customers through Bank’s SMS Alert and Email System. “Tips For Security in the Web World” is also circulated to all new registered NetBanking Customers, specimen of which is given below:Tips For Security in the Web World Dear Customer, We are thankful for your kind patronage to our Bank and its Web based facilities. While we assure you the best of our services at all times, we would like to assure you that we have equipped our Internet Banking Services with industry standard security technology and practices to ensure that our customers are fully protected against third party fraud. We also consider it as a part of our duty to keep you updated on the developments taking place in the Web world so as to keep your interest safeguarded by following few preventive measures while using the Web Based facilities. Beware of Phishing The Net is full of Phishing attacks, where attempts to steal personal data including login Id's, passwords etc is common. But there is more than meets the eye. Apart from money being fraudulently withdrawn from your account, your personal data can also be used to acquire mobile SIM cards, consumer loans, purchase of airline tickets etc. And God forbid, if it falls in the wrong hands like terrorists, than you are in trouble...real trouble, just trying to prove your innocence. No matter, which authority you receive an email from, never part with personal data, even if the source seems genuine, because it will never be. In fact, if you do receive such a mail immediately inform us (Bank) as also mark it as a "Phishing" attack ", generally provided by your email services somewhere within your mail box...If that is not available, at least mark it as spam. You could save a lot of people from untold agony. A recent case in example is that a large number of people have received an email supposedly from the Punjab National Bank. It seemed absolutely genuine till one checked the senders address and most shockingly it showed that the mail was sent from an email account that displayed <>.

If you receive an e-mail that warns you, with little or no notice, that an account of yours will be shut down unless you reconfirm your billing information, do not reply or click on the link in the e-mail. Instead, contact the Bank using a telephone number or Web site address that you know to be genuine. It is therefore requested to verify the legitimacy of a web address with the Bank directly before submitting any personal information. It is always wise to comply with the General Tips and adopt the principles of Prevention, Protection, Security and Monitoring and follow the pieces of advice as enunciated below:General Tips  The internet Banking Application is best viewed using internet Explorer version 5.0 or later with 128-bit encryption (Cipher strength).  The customer gets information about browser version from the browser e.g. in Microsoft Internet explorer, in dropdown menu "Help", "About Internet Explorer" gives information about Browser version as well as Cipher strength.  Please ensure that SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0 & TLS 1.0 is enabled in Internet Explorer option (Tools >> Internet Option >> Advanced >> Go to Bottom of the page).  To access OBC Internet Banking Website, Please use the following URL or you can also access this site through Bank’s website ie thereafter clicking on Net Banking option under “OBC eZ Banking” section.  Check for correctness of URL address.  Always check the “padlock symbol” on the bottom right hand corner of your webpage to ensure that you are connected to a secure session with Oriental Bank Of Commerce. This is the VeriSign security symbol and confirms that the site you are interacting with is Prevention  

Value your identity. Don’t reveal it to just about anybody. Handle your identity proof documents with esteem and discretion. Keep your password close to your heart. Never share your Net-Banking user-id and password with anybody including Bank officials.

Change your Password often. Avoid using simple passwords. Strong passwords should be used with the combination of Capital and Small alphabets, numerals and special characters.

Never be tempted by luring offers from Games or Lotteries seeking your vital personal information.

Keep your PC updated with latest Anti-virus, Anti spam-ware and Anti-spyware. Use personal Firewalls and advanced security features of your browser to filter the suspect websites.

Avoid using the Net Banking at Public Places and Cybercafes.

Protection   

 

Do not share your personal information like account details etc. with any one on phone. Keep important documents in safe custody. Never visit any website through the links provided in any e-mail. Key-in Bank’s URL on your browser’s address bar to access your Bank’s Website rather than clicking on the link provided at other locations. Beware of the phishing attempts, whereby fraudsters allure the gullible users to visit a site using the links through the e-mails.(Kindly note that our Net Banking site is .Always type the full url in the address bar of the browser.You can also access our Net Banking services through our informational website Disable “Auto complete” function of your browser before using the Banking Website, especially from a PC other than that of your own. Ensure to exit the site using Logout button besides clearing the Browser’s history and clearing the cache and deleting the temporary files.

Monitoring 

 

Keep track of the transactions in your account. Log in to your Net Banking account regularly to verify the activity in your account. Subscribe to SMS alerts service of the Bank for an instant update of the transactions happened to your account. Scrutinise the statement of account for any unjustified debits. Log on to your internet banking account regularly for updated information.

Reporting  

Report any incident of data theft, information theft to your Bank immediately. In the event of occurrence of any crime, report the same to police immediately.
