RICHARD’S HONORS • The Cowboys are back as the defending Southland Conference champions and are picked to win the league title again. They are coming off a 21-12 season during which time they won 10 of their last 14 games to take the crown with an 11-5 record... at one time during the season McNeese won 14 straight home games • Returning from that championship team and expected to lead the way is senior Patrick Richard, an all-conference performer and the Louisiana collegiate player of the year for the 2010-11 season...seven other lettermen are also returning including Daniel Richard (17 starts, 3.7 ppg, 2.5 reb) who saw some starting time last year...Patrick Richard has led the team in scoring for the past two seasons (16.1 ppg last year and 12.8 the year before)....he also ranked second on the team in rebounding and assists a year ago... • Other lettermen returning are Jeremie Mitchell (5.1 ppg), Dontae Cannon (3.8 ppg), Brandon Regis (1.4 ppg), Adrian Fields (0.7 ppg), Mari Konate (1.4 ppg) and Tyson

Queen (0.4 ppg) • Newcomers to the squad include transfers Will Brown (New Mexico), Rudy Turner (UL Monroe) and Ledrick Eackles (Oakland)....Turner (6-9, 285) started three seasons at ULM and Brown played two years at New Mexico and Eackles two years at Oakland • Incoming freshmen are Desharick Guidry (6-5, F) and Kevin Hardy (6-2, G) both of Lake Charles and Craig McFerrin (6-7, F) from Warren, OH • The schedule is going to be a tough one, particularly the games on the road where McNeese will play such teams as Auburn, Cal-Berkeley, UTEP and New Mexico State....13 home games are scheduled including a ESPN Bracket Buster outing • Dave Simmons is back for his sixth season as the Cowboy head coach....he has been a part of two championship years at McNeese, last year as a head coach and in 1988-89 as an assistant coach...he carries a 70-83 record with the Cowboys and is 97-113 overall (seven years)
