FEBRUARY 2014 YOUTH UPDATE We had a wonderful winter retreat with the youth from our church and EUMC on January 3-5. We had a great group of 30 youth and young adults (and a few adults who maybe are a bit less young) plus our speaker, Sandy Good. Sandy shared many stories of the mission trips he has led as he encouraged us all to truly trust God and put our faith into action. Bart Delp and Ben Voran were there to provide musical leadership, and all of the sessions were inspirational! As we say each year, the folks at Three Springs were great hosts; and we enjoyed the big mansion, many games and climbing wall. Plus there was enough snow for tubing, and we also were able to play some other games in the snow. We even broke with tradition and offered everyone the option of watching the Eagles game (on a laptop) during free time on Saturday night. AND…the weather cooperated and allowed us to make the three hour drive with no trouble even though it snowed Friday morning before we left, and there was a bit on an ice storm Sunday morning before we came home. All in all, it was a fun and blessed trip. Thanks to all the volunteer youth leaders and to everyone who was involved! We trust that God will continue to use the messages from the weekend in the lives of all who attended. In the meantime, the Wed night youth schedule for Feb is as follows:

Feb. 12 – Small Groups

Feb. 19 – TBD (hopefully, some type of “Olympic” activity)

Feb. 26 – Lesson Night

5 – Game Night

2 Don’t forget the soup sale on Feb 2 -events.

proceeds will be used for youth ministries and

A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR LIFE-LINE HEALTH SCREENING Once again this year, we are pleased to offer a preventive health event. Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, will host their affordable, noninvasive and painless health screenings on 4/16/2014. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. In order to register for this event and to receive a $10 discount off any package priced above $129, please call 1888-653-6441 . We hope that, like last year, this is a great ministry and outreach to the folks in our community!
