Some of the things to consider when buying any underwater video camera is to find the camera is made of high quality material. You want a good company to support any technical problems that you may have after you make your purchase. So I usually stick with either a Sanyo, Panasonic or Canon camera, because I know, these companies support their products with the highest integrity. So if you are looking on Amazon, or if you're out shopping at your local store for a good underwater video camera, I would recommend that you stay with one of these brands when you make your purchase. So here are a couple of things to consider before you buy your video camera. Number one, since you will be using it underwater, at least part of the time, you want to find the camera that will withstand the pressure of being underwater. Find a camera that is sealed really well and that can also take pictures as well as video. I like to find cameras that have many different options so that I can choose how the video will be produced. Some cameras will let you choose between different quality of video depending on your selection on the camera. If I have lots of room on my memory card, and I'm videoing something that I want to remember for quite some time, I will video in a high resolution setting like 640 x 480 or higher. Another item to consider is what you plan to do with your video or your photos. If you're filming in high-resolution, keep in mind that when you try to upload that to YouTube or other video sharing sites, your video may either be too long or may take too much time to upload to the Internet. I recommend that you stay with 640 x 480 resolution when videoing something that you would like to upload. Another great feature of underwater video cameras is that some of them will allow you to take pictures as well as video. Keep this in mind before you buy your next underwater video camera because some video cameras do not allow you to take still pictures. Even though you may think at this time that you only want to film underwater video. It's always a good option to have a still picture option. Finally, another large consideration is the amount of time you can video on the battery that's installed within the camera. Find a camera that has a long-lasting lithium battery. With the new battery technology it shouldn't be any problem to find a long life video camera. There is nothing worse than to be in the place that you would like to video and not be able to film, because the camera has ran out of battery juice.
