MEET

Chris

and KalyDuhon

February 19, 2011

The Family and Bridal Party:

Kaly Rachel is the daughter of Christopher Broussard and Darlene Collet and the granddaughter of Louis and Vivian Collet and Murphy and Roanne Broussard. Christopher Charles is the son of Charlie and Margaret Duhon and the grandson of Robert Les and Neddie Domingues and Leo and Lucille Duhon. Jillian Angelle served as Maid of Honor and Kacy Broussard Theriot served as Matron of Honor. Kaly’s bridesmaids were Collette Angelle, Kelsie Smith, Abby Angelle, Erin Huval, Kristen Bellard, Allie Smith, Lori Kidder and Cloey Collet. Shane Duhon and Tim Duhon served as the Best Men. Chris’ groomsmen were Colby Broussard, Blaine Clark, Matt Berard, Adam Brewer, Dustin Bellard, Scotty Poche, Jessie Daniels and Ian Leblanc. Daniel Theriot, Cal Guidry, John Domingues, and Jagger Theriot served as ushers. Ryndi Theriot served as the flower girl and Andrew Domingues served as the ring bearer.

The Event:

The ceremony was held at Poche’s Country Club in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and was officiated by Judge Blanchet. The bride was escorted by her father, Christopher Broussard as she carried a bouquet of winter white and brilliant red roses with delicate white feathers. Following the ceremony, a reception continued at Poche’s Country Club. After their honeymoon to Cozumel, Mexico, the couple will reside in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

The Proposal Story:

On a beautiful Sunday morning, after having coffee and donuts, we took a ride through the country. We decided to stop by the family property and take a walk along the bayou. We chose to sit next to a beautiful oak tree. After sitting there for a while Chris quietly got on one knee and with a smile on his face, asked me to be his wife.

One of the most memorable elements of your wedding will undoubtedly be the food. This is even truer in a corner of the world that is known for its unique culinary style and flavor. So I think I can safely assume that finding a caterer can be an overwhelming task!

In an effort to find local businesses that specialize in the wedding industry and bring them to you in every issue, I have decided to start my search in one of my favorite Breaux Bridge restaurants. Nestled in the downtown shops, you will find a small café known as Chez Jacqueline’s. It is here that I have enjoyed everything from home cooked meals to French delicacies, visiting with tourists, local guests, and most of all, the chef herself. But apart from her authentically European style of dining, Chez Jacqueline’s can provide a catering service that fits your event and makes your mouth water for more.

Clearly, Chez Jacqueline’s has a lot to offer for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but her catering menu looks just as good. Jacqueline tells me that she is available at any time and will even close her restaurant for you! And don’t worry about your location; Jacqueline will travel up to an hour for no extra cost to you. Her catering menu offers a full array of items in 5 different culinary styles, including Italian, Mexican, American, Cajun and of course French, but she explains that she can mix and match items and fit just about any budget.

Originally from St. Germain-en-Laye, France, about 20 miles from Versailles, Jacqueline Tellier explained to me that she has been cooking all of her life. “I remember being 3 years old, sitting on a milk crate and stirring a pot, hearing my father sternly tell me not to burn anything,” she tells me in her wonderfully adorable French accent. After that, she says, her parents “put it on her head to cook,” which developed into a lifelong passion of watching people enjoy what she creates and encouraging people to try new things. After living here for the last 20 years, Jacqueline has learned much about Cajun cooking and has incorporated our distinctive heritage into her more traditional French cuisine. You simply must taste the end result to believe how good these culinary fusions can be. My personal favorite is her seafood gumbo in a light roux which honestly may be better than my own grandmother’s!

Some of the chef’s favorite items include quiche, fillet, shrimp scampi, and when in season, oysters on the half shell, and I must say this sounds delicious. So if you are as intrigued as I am by her cooking, give her a call anytime, or go by the restaurant to meet her face to face. I am sure that it will be an experience you won’t soon forget.
