THE CHAMPION TEAMS INCLUDED:

Division C: Nashville Predators Division B: Washington Capitals Division A: Buffalo Sabres “The tournament was a tremendous success,” said President of the Mighty Penguins, Angie McCoy. “When the Mighty Penguins were established 15 years ago, we could have never imagined hosting the premiere tournament for sled hockey in the United States. We are so proud of how our players, families and volunteers came together to provide a wonderful experience — on and off the ice — for the 250 players who participated.” The weekend was not only just filled with games across all divisions but provided plenty of entertainment. The participants were welcomed on Friday night with a social that included bowling and plenty of food and beverages. Many of the NHL organizations also provided gift bags to be handed out to the roughly 250 participants with team related memorabilia or articles of clothing. The U.S. Paralympic Men’s Sled Hockey Team — which will compete in the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia in March — was at RMU Island Sports Center to meet fans and sign autographs. It is a tribute to the reach and growth of sled hockey that the Paralympic team made an appearance to support their fellow athletes. This was the Fourth Annual Sled Classic. USA Hockey looks to continue this tournament from year to year and look forward to its continued growth. Washington D.C. looks to be the host for next years Sled Classic.
