Sunday 28th April - Borders Family History Society - St Peters Church Hall, Parsonage Road, Galashiels - 2.30pm. Andy Jepson will talk on 'Stobs - The First World War Training and POW Camp'. Refreshments (donation) and sales table. Wednesday 1st May - Christianity Explored - Borders College Campus, Netherdale - 7.15pm. This widely-known and popular course is to be run in Galashiels by the three Church of Scotland congregations in the town - Old & St Pauls, St John's and Trinity. It is an informal and friendly 8-week course for anyone (Christian or non-Christian) wanting to explore the Christian faith. No Bible knowledge is needed. Ask questions or just listen. Come on your own or bring a friend. You will be very welcome! Friday 3rd May - Rolling Hills Folk Club - Smith Memorial Hall, Darnick – 7.30pm. Corralach are Tony Perridge and George Livingstone. Tony sings and plays mandolin, ukulele, six and twelve string guitar. George plays six-string guitar, bouzouki, banjo and bohdran and sings lead and harmony vocals. Tickets £7/£6, Young Scot Card free. BYOB. All ages welcome. 07986 644661 for more information. Saturday 4th May - Spring Fair and Coffee Morning - Trinity Church Hall - 10.00am to 1.00pm. Galashiels Academy pupil Emma Brus is holding a Spring Fair and coffee morning to raise funds for her visit to Tanzania with the Vine Trust. There will be face painting by Clarabell Creations, homebaking and sweets, glitter tattoos, craft stalls, toy and book stalls, children's jewellery, a plant stall and much more! Admission is £2 per adult (£1 concessions) and includes a tea/coffee and biscuits, and children (under 18) are free, with free juice and biscuits on offer!
