Dio Disicples tour Ronnie Dio was undoubtedly one of the most important and influential men of the metal world and his untimely passing last year left a huge hole in the industry where his indistinguishable voice once rang. As a tribute to the late and great man himself members of his band Dio are joining forces, along with singers Tom “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest) and Toby Jepson (Gun) to create the band Dio Disicples. Ronnie’s wife Wendy took to the internet to announce the decision stating:
DevilDriver bassist exits It was announced that Johnathon Miller from the band DevilDriver will be leaving the band with immediate effect. Miller posted on the band’s official website:
“There will never be another Ronnie, but we want to keep his music alive and hope you will support the band and become one of the DIO Disciples."
"I just wanted to thank all of the DEVILDRIVER fans around the world for their die-hard love and support for the past nine years.Yesterday, I decided to leave DevilDriver. It was the most difficult decision of my life but it is something that I needed to do for myself. I had the best times of my life hanging out with all of you guys, but it is time for me to move on."
"We will [announce] the U.K./European tour dates as they are confirmed, and we are planning some U.S. dates also."
The decision comes after Jon bowed out of the bands recent Soundwave world tour for alcohol and drug use so it is not a huge suprise to fans and many took to the internet to send well wishes.
We think this will be an amazing tribute to an amazing musician and man.
The bands tour manager Aaron Patrick has been announced as the new bassist for the band and has been filling in for Johnathon on the recent tour
Velvet Revolver confirm recording with Corey Taylor The future of Velvet Revolver has been hanging in the balance for three years after frontman Scott Weiland was sacked due to numerous substance abuse problems, however at the start of this year their spokesperson confirmed they were getting close to a decision on who the new lead singer will be and we have all been waiting with bated breath ever since. Although we still do not know who the band have chosen for one of the most sought after slots in the industry, it has now been relvealed by bassist Duff McKagan that the band has been recording with Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor. He tells MusicRadar: “We recorded a bunch of songs with Corey. I think he’s fucking great – he’s the best voice of a new generation, the best rock’n'roll voice out there. He’s got a lot of positive energy and I’d be proud to do anything with him. “Whether he’s in Velvet Revolver or not? The truth is, I can’t see Velvet Revolver happening until fall, maybe. Slash is touring, I’m just starting to tour – we’ll just have to see. I don’t have an answer.” Rumours have been rife that Corey will be the new frontman, but when questioned he has kept quiet simply saying: “To be continued.” VR guitarist Slash later admitted Taylor was in the frame. But is this just playing around in the studio or testing the waters for something more permanent? Either way we can not wait to hear the results of this studio time together!
