Elephants, important natural resources that have existed on this planet for millions of years, are disappearing before our eyes. Extinction rates among elephants are the fastest they have ever been recorded in history. 35,000 are killed each year for ivory alone. Elephants are tied to our planets rich biodiversity. We should not view elephants disappearing as an isolated event, but as a more obvious signal of wider ecological collapse. We need to secure a future for elephants and sustain the beauty and ecological integrity of the places they live.
