From the President’s desk

To all members: My two years as President are coming to an end this December. I came into office after participating as a Governor for many years and as Vice President before taking this office. Over the years’ the Pinewood Lake Association has grown tremendously, and along with this growth came more activities, family fun and improvements to our operational procedures at the Clubhouse and Beach. I do feel I have been able to help contribute in some ways to those positive accomplishments along with the dedication and time invested by the entire Board and all the other tireless volunteers. Like myself I see that many primary volunteers are getting tired of going it alone, and I must say while the number of members have increased, the number of volunteers has not. This trend has caused us to lose some of our long-standing traditional events and unless we get some new, young motivated volunteers, I’m afraid this trend will continue. This is your PLA and it only runs when members pitch in. I had inherited some issues two years ago that I did my best to resolve. Unfortunately, they are still ongoing. At the very least I did manage to reduce the drama they produce and assure you that I will continue to do so as Governor next year. Finally as I step down, some of you must step up to help continue the traditions that are the Pinewood Lake Association. Thank you to this year’s BOG and all those who helped to make it an enjoyable few years. David J. Cosenza OD PLA President Cell: 203-257-3983 PLAPresident@gmail.com

(continued from page 2) to allow the rental of the room for business meetings that may include depositions. Further discussion questioned setting precedents for such use. New Business 1. Discussion took place regarding the location of flotation devices and anchoring restrictions. 2. Discussion ensued about keeping the lake low for the winter. There are pros and cons: weed control, less sediment, save sand, negatively affecting fish, and the water not coming back fast enough. 3. The installation of gas lines will be pursued. 4. Motion by Sisson, second by Letizia that if the washer price is to remain at a higher rate, for example .25 or .50 cents, than less washers are to be handed out. Motion passed with 2 opposed and 1 abstention. 5. Bob Sisson, as boat safety chair, will take up the discussion of boat size allowed on the lake.

6. Joanne Parsons has volunteered to pursue solar power for the clubhouse. 7. A job description for the Partyline will be discussed at the next meeting.

8. The budget meeting for PLA will take place Tuesday, October 22nd in the Pineroom. Motion proposed by Migacz, to adjourn at 9:19 PM and seconded by Izzo was unanimously approved.

Changes to the Functionality of the Digital Copies of the PartyLine Archives

The viewing experience for the online versions of the Pinewood Lake Partyline has been improved. When you visit the “Partylines” tab you will still be prompted for a password. That password remains “private.” With the new viewing system readers can now choose which issue they want to read from the list. The list is catalogued in alphabetical order, and not chronologically so you will have to search by month and then select the year you are looking for. Once you click on your issue, scroll up to the virtual magazine and click on it. This will then launch a full screen digital magazine. You can flip pages, zoom, and cut and paste with ease for your own improved experience. To close the digital magazine use the on screen X as well as the ESC shortcut on your keyboard. I hope that these improvements are to the liking of everyone. If you have any feedback, suggestions, or comments feel free to contact me. Ray Kingsbury Webmaster webmaster@pinewood-lake.org

NOTICE: Gas Line Extensions still a possibility

With the influx of new owner members particularly along Pinewood Trail the hope for Gas line extensions is being pursued again. Eric Kudey, cell: 203253-0377 working with Bill Jolly, cell: 203-536-4130 will be working together to gain support to have the present natural gas line which now ends at the pump station extended along Pinewood Trail toward the Clubhouse. The line coming up Old Dike is already being extended a short at the request and expense of some of the homeowner. With the price of natural gas coming down and reserves of gas growing the Gas company is working to provide

for more customers but must meet a formula of cost vs. commitment of potential new customers Please contact me, Bill Jolly, or Eric Kudey to discuss this further. Any members on Old Dike or other areas of Pinewood should consider doing the

same and hopefully one of the members in those areas will step up as well. If you wish to go straight to the source: Amanda Gavagan Near Main Extensions - SCG Phone: 203-795-7624 Amanda.gavagan@uinet.com If we all work together we can all save on energy while improving our local air quality David J.
