Welcome to the Pine Crest Summer Programs

Thank you for inquiring about the Pine Crest School Summer Programs. We realize that choosing the right summer program that works for both you and more importantly your child(ren) is an important family decision to make. We are extremely proud to offer a diverse selection of programs from athletics to fine arts that suit almost any camper. Our programs are offered on a weekly basis to assist families with busy schedules or allow campers to sample everything we have to offer.

All of the summer programs and activities are both directed and supervised by many of our own professional adult teachers, coaches, and staff. The easy registration, available online, allows our camp families to design their own summer calendar based upon their needs. You can choose from one week at a time or a full summer! Enrollment is limited in many of our programs, so please don’t delay reserving a space early for your child(ren). If you have any specific questions after reviewing this brochure, please contact us directly. If you are unfamiliar with our campus and would like to visit, call to schedule a personal tour of our facilities. Sincerely, Paul Swisher Director of Summer Programs Pine Crest School at Boca Raton

Campus Facilities

The Pine Crest Summer Programs are located on 20 beautiful acres at the Pine Crest School campus in the heart of Boca Raton, Florida. Our facilities include a professional fine arts complex which houses our music, visual arts, and drama programs. These buildings feature band, orchestra, and chorus rooms, a Pre-Primary music classroom, individual soundproof practice rooms for rehearsals and private lessons, two large art studios, and a kiln room. Our state-of-the-art performing arts center is one of the most acoustically advanced auditoriums in South Florida. It is a fully functioning performance venue with a seating capacity of 750. We also feature a LEED certified Lower School with all of the latest technology and educational tools necessary for a positive learning environment. In addition, our athletic complex includes a paved six-court tennis complex, an eight-lane 25 meter swimming pool, a wood-floored gymnasium, two dance studios, outdoor basketball courts, and four acres of athletic fields. For our youngest campers, we provide programs that are age-appropriate and take place within classrooms, common areas, and playgrounds that are specifically designed with the smaller person in mind. EXTENDED DAY

JUNE 10 - AUGUST 2 GRADES ENTERING:

PK-8

We offer Extended Day to families with children enrolled in any of our Summer Programs. Operating from 7:45 to 9:00 a.m. and from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m., Extended Day is designed to be a convenient and helpful service to our parents - and fun for our campers, young and old! Fees: Our charges are designed to cover the cost of staffing, materials and supplies, and the use of campus facilities and equipment. These fees are in addition to camp fees.

Extended Day Mornings - $65 per Week

This program runs from 7:45 - 9:30 a.m. You may drop off your child any time after 7:45 a.m. A staff member will greet and supervise the children in our various recreational rooms. At approximately 9:20 a.m., the campers will be escorted to their assigned camp program.

Extended Day Afternoons - $80 per Week

This program runs from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. and begins immediately after summer programs have ended for the day. Campers meet in a designated area for attendance and participate in various activities planned or supervised by our staff. All parents/guardians must sign out their children. This program ends promptly at 5:30 p.m.

Extended Day Full Day - $130 per Week

This program combines both options for a full extended day of camp. It runs from 7:45 - 9:30 a.m. and again from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. Campers meet in a designated area for attendance and participate in various activities planned or supervised by our staff. All parents/guardians must sign out their children. This program ends promptly at 5:30 p.m.

Daily Fees Apply - Mornings - $20 / Afternoons - $25

We ask that parents please be sure to tell the counselor, coach or camp director to send their children to Extended Day when the camp is finished, and they should also make the Extended Day staff aware that the children are to join the program that day.

A $10 late fee will be assessed for every half hour after 5:30 p.m.

Pick Up: Children may be picked up any time before 5:30 p.m. but must be collected directly from the Extended Day staff. Because staff must stay until all children are met, there is a substantial late charge automatically added to a camper ’s account for pick up after 5:45 p.m. Activities: Some of the planned activities include arts and crafts, board games, computers, movies, recreational reading, ping pong, arcade games, foosball, air hockey, board games, video games, coloring, gymnasium activities and playground time. Coordination with Other Camp Programs: Flexibility is a prime objective of Extended Day. Campers can first go to a swim or music lesson, and then enter the Extended Day Program for the remainder of the afternoon until pick up. Campers will be escorted to their camp programs in the morning and brought from their respective camps in the afternoons. Campers may not remain on campus after pick up without supervision. Campers not picked up on time from their daily camp program will be taken to the Extended Day room and charged a daily fee.

9

CAMP SWIMMING & LESSONS

JUNE 10 - AUGUST 2 GRADES ENTERING:

PK-8

Each summer program that we offer has a designated swimming time during the day’s or week’s activities. This is an “open” swim session and not instruction. We ask that you please pack a swimsuit and towel each day. All programs offered in conjunction with Leap Ahead often swim twice a day so the afternoon campers may also swim.

All campers must be “Water Safe.”* Each Monday our lifeguards require campers to pass a swim test (half length of the pool) before they are allowed to swim. If a camper cannot pass the swim test, he or she will be asked to take swimming lessons or sit out of the pool during swim time. Swim aids such as “floaties” are not allowed. Pine Crest Swimming Lessons: Our lessons program is available for children ages 2 and up and is open to the public. We invite everyone to be part of a great tradition. Regardless of whether your child has any experience in the water or is developing their strokes, Pine Crest Swimming has a group for them! Space is limited.

Summer Small Group Lessons ($65 per week): Eight one-week sessions beginning June 10 are open to ages 3** and up. The program consists of one 30-minute lesson per day, Monday through Thursday. You may choose one of three convenient class times 8:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., or 3:45 p.m. Campers will be escorted to their camp program at the conclusion of their morning lesson. Afternoon swimmers will be escorted to their lesson after camp has ended. Campers swimming at 3:45 p.m. must be picked up by their parents at the conclusion of the lesson or they will be taken to Extended Day and charged the daily fee if not already enrolled.

In-Camp Small Group Lessons ($50 per week): One-week sessions are available only to our KidVenture and the Kindergarten Fine Arts group campers who are required to pass the “Water Safe” criteria. The program consists of one 30-minute small group lesson during the KidVenture or Kindergarten Fine Arts group’s swim times. The swim coaches will notify the camper’s parents and KidVenture staff when the camper has passed the “Water Safe” criteria.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons: Open to ages 2** and up, this program consists of five 30-minute lessons which are arranged between the family and an assigned instructor. Please call the Swim Office for more details. Rainy Day/Make-Up Policy: Substitution days are not permitted for group lessons. Lessons are typically not cancelled due to rain. The Swim Office will cancel a lesson due to heavy rain or lightning and Friday will be used as a make-up day.

* “Water Safe” Criteria: We refer to Water Safe as moving independently in the water, survival floating, and water confidence. We want to make sure that your child is comfortable in the water and with a large pool.

** Age and Ability Guidelines: To enroll in group swim lessons, your child must be “Water Safe.”* If your child is not “Water Safe,” we recommend you start your child in private lessons. We will do our best to advance your child from private lessons to group lessons as quickly as we can. If you are unsure where to place your child in the swim program, please contact our office to arrange an evaluation. Please contact the Swim Office with questions about Instructional Swimming Programs, Lessons, or Swim Camps at 561.852.2825.
