DARYL SMITH AND RYAN BLYTHE

Daryl Smith is a Seattle native with more than twenty years experience making glass. In addition to creating his own pop art and lowbrow-inspired artwork, he has worked with the best glassmakers in the world as a gaffer at Chihuly Studios. Smith has also been a gaffer at Pilchuck Glass School many times and has developed an intimate knowledge of the material. Ryan Blythe, born in Ohio, has been in the Puget Sound region since 1996 working with glass. He studied glass at Rochester Instituted of Technology in New York and has traveled internationally to study and work with masters of the craft, including Dale Chihuly. In 2013, Blythe founded The Rainier Glass Studio, located in the Old Rainier Brewery building in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood.

Rob Stern began working with glass in 1988, earning a BFA in Glass and Sculpture at San Francisco State University and MFA in Glass Sculpture at University of Miami. He spent five years at John Lewis Glass studio and two years abroad working for Czech Master Petr Novotny. Stern has studied with the most notable glass artists and masters throughout the world and has attended Pilchuck Glass School for twenty-seven consecutive summers. He conducts workshops internationally and has been a professor at The University of Miami and the University of Texas-Arlington. In 2003, he founded his Florida-based studio Rob Stern Art Glass Inc. and works on commissions while exhibiting internationally. ROBSTERNARTGL ASS.COM

HIROMI TAKIZAWA

Great Outdoors 18 x 18 x 1 in. Signed, 2017 Blown, kiln-formed glass Hiromi Takizawa was born and raised in Nagano, Japan, and currently lives in Southern California. Curiosity, experimentation, narrative, and materiality are core concepts in her work. Takizawa has exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions at Heller Gallery and UrbanGlass in New York, and group exhibitions in Ohio, Michigan, Virginia, and Bergen, Norway.
