Angel of Cuisine As the weather starts to cool off a little it’s a great time to get inventive in the kitchen and eat some different foods that may have made the house too hot in summer. Soup is a great nutrient dense way to get vitamins and minerals and a lot of nutrition into your day. I usually make a couple of soups per week and freeze them in batches so they are easy to grab and reheat when my days get crazy and I don’t want to think about dinner. They are also a great way to use up any vegetables that may be about to expire soon. As a basic instruction you just need to cut your ingredients to the same size. Put all the vegetables and any meat that you like in a big saucepan and cover with stock so that the vegetables begin to float. Cook on a medium heat for

about 20 minutes and you are done.

It’s also a great time to put the oven on in the evening and make yourself some healthy treats - either for dessert or for lunchboxes the next day.

If you aren’t going to eat them all, you can also freeze them in ziplock bags for an easy snack another day. They are made using buckwheat flour, which is a very nutritious superfood flour that is good for you. Enjoy your time in the kitchen and have a healthy week!

Maggie was born at St John Of God, Murdoch.
