ALL ARE WELCOME THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST (CORPUS CHRISTI) ~ JUNE 3, 2018
St. Pius X Parish 14101 Superior, Southgate, MI 48195
A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR Dear Friends,
On this Feast of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, I am reminded of something Mother Teresa said many times throughout her ministry. She said it was because she was able to see Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament that she was then able to see Him in the poor people of the world. She said it was the same Jesus. God is always the one who provides us with the grace to recognize Him whether it be in the Eucharist, the community of faith gathered in worship or in the poor people we strive to serve. Sometimes people make the mistake of forgetting the various ways in which Jesus wants to reach out and touch us. When we are not open to His presence, we forgo to a greater or lesser degree the Lord’s light, healing, guidance, strength, joy, peace, wisdom and love. If Mother Teresa had only seen Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and not in the poor or the people of God, she would have been missing out on so much. So, too, if people only see Jesus in the community of faith and the needy they serve but do not have a deep love for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, they are incomplete in their spirituality. In reality, it is often the case that when a Catholic is lacking in their love of the Eucharist, their ability to humbly and generously give of themselves to the poor and faith community is greatly diminished. It is not a part of God’s plan that we pick and choose what of Jesus we want to embrace. He wants us to embrace all of Him. The Lord desires all of us to grow in a deeper love for Him in the Eucharist. God also knows how much we will be blessed by serving and loving Him in the poor and needy. We need to remember that poverty takes on so many forms in our family, parish neighborhoods, country and world. In a special way, we should always rejoice in the Lord’s presence in the people of God, the Church, our faith community, and among all those who profess Jesus as Lord. Jesus has been true to His word that He would always be with us. May we live in solidarity with our Lord and one another. May His presence continue to transform our lives. God’s Peace and Joy, Fr. Bob

SATURDAY, JUNE 23 CAREGIVER BURNOUT AND BUILDING A CARE TEAM
Over 70% of caregivers are family members. Experience is showing us that it is almost impossible to be the caregiver and the son, daughter, or spouse. In many families, the caregiving falls on one person primarily and 30 to 50% of caregivers die before the person with dementia. Learn how to relieve the stress the caregiver experiences and how to use outside help to improve the quality of life for the person with dementia and the caregiver. More dates of future sessions will be in upcoming bulletins.
