Origins. • In 1936, during the Spanish Civil War, Forrest Mars invented the recipe for M&m’s chocolate. • M&m’s originated from the United States in 1942 and manufactured by the Mars, Incorporated. • Mars Chocolate employs more than 16,000 Associates across 21 countries. They have 29 brands in total and other food products with $30 billion in anual sales.

1941: The first packcages of M&m’s were sold to the public. • Cardboard tubes. 1948: From cardboard tube evolved to brown plastic pouch. 1950: The letter ”m” was printed on each candy. 1954: Their slogan was introduced. 1960: They added the yellow, red and green colors. 1980: They were introduced internationally. 1991: Peanut butter M&m’s were released. 1995: First promotions. 1996: They introduced the M&m’s minis, sold in plastic tubes. 1997: Animations. 1999: Crispy M&m’s were released. 2010: Pretzel M&ms were released. Present: They are now being sold in more than 100 countries worldwide.
