Butuan City issues flood advisory by Nora CL Molde
BUTUAN CITY – Level of water at the Agusan river was recorded at 2.40 meters as of one o’clock this afternoon. Due to the continuous rising of water level in the Agusan River basin, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) has issued a flood advisory through acting mayor, Vice Mayor Lawrence Lemuel H. Fortun to the public. The rise of the water level in the river came from the flooded areas of Agusan del Sur which flows out to Butuan Bay due to the low pres32
sure area (LPA) that is being experienced in the region. As per information from the city mayor’s office public information officer Jennifer Michele N. Divinagracia, alert level 1 is currently in effect in the city and now preparing for a possible flooding. Also, the local DRRMC has advised all residents in low-lying and riverside barangays to prepare for possible evacuation.
