â–²LIGHT DIAGRAM DRAWING
The final-destination represent the flat sand floor, where
the upward curve of the floor reflects light softly to bright -en up the final resting place. The skylight creates a wall washing effect, lights bounce off and cast shadows down on each bumper. Type of sight one would experience while looking up from the ocean floor, while lights bounce and dance around a trailing the ocean waves.
The floor of dramatic wave allows one to walk through,
with the illusion of being carry by the ocean tide. The wavy walk-way elevate from a high point to a lower point, indicating sinking motion. The walk-wayreflect light differently on each location. The skylight hitting the two walls along the main walk-way to mimic the way light leak through th the water.
The theme of the design inquires the idea
of death falling to the bottom of the ocean floor. Peaceful glace of sunlight reflect off the sandy floor and softly brightening up the final resting place. The dramatic wavey floor is used to mimic one being sunk and drifted down by the power of ocean tides. dri The theme of ocean waves is repeatedly inferred by the numerous waves and soft curves that embedded in to the structure.
▲CONCEPT MODEL STUDYING LIGHT REFLECTION
The structure's tall narrow entrance located at the east
that cast a sharp, elongated light source during the early morning. The light extends to the end of the structure, straight beam light on the floor creating a contrast to the darkly lit wavey pathway to the passerby. The pathway consists of overheads and sink-in floors form various levels that mimic the action of moving fo tides.
After the pathway one result in a high wall full
of light that washes the entire wall of stairs that cast soft shadows upon one another. Exit located at the top of the stairs. Allowing one to have the body and emotional adventure of sinking to the bottom of the ocean, and to be lifted up to resurface once more.
This project intended to evoke poetics atmosphere
through manipulation of light and shadow. Soft uneven over casting light simulates the moonshining ocean waves.
Dreaming is the perpetual creation of senses and
emotion. This is a space where time is not relevant. A space to experience a never-ending confusing cycle when linear concept such as time does not exist. Time in the Dreamworld is vastly different from the real-world's timeline. One second might be a lifetime in a dream. d
â–˛SCALE SECTIONAL CUT FROM REST AREA
The tall entryway provokes an inviting feeling. The big spiral staircase allows light to peak through at the top, creating the
illusion of an exit. The stair enters into an enclosed space with a tiny opening. The upstairs window appears to be smaller then it is as one walks up the stairs. The dark loop hallway around the first stairs symbolizes the neverending dream sequence. This space leads to a door with a bright light source leaking through it suggesting the idea of another false exit. The door continues to a room of resting area. Two oversized floor-to-ceiling windows raming the bed that set in the center of the room. With one wall being solid emphasize the bed is the focal point in this room.
The underlining idea of dreaming is the only way to escape
the structure. The room contains two stairs leading down to the original starting point. The physical movement of walking through all the space create the bodily experience of completing the circle. The structure embodied the idea of neverending dream sequences with the false idea of escape at every turn.
