I was born on February 23, 1973 in Barcelona and although I have realized studies of design and photography, I consider myself to be one self-taught of vocation. My interest to give expression to invented realities comes from young, when I inherited an old airbrush from muy father and I used it to do muy firsts “works”, small pictures to illustrate front pages of old cassettes and some poster that I keep with very much love in some corner of house and especially in my memory. I always kept a direct contact with the photography, but when the digital age began, this was what seduced me definitively, and it took me inevitably to the passion for creating other worlds, others realities that seem invented but somehow or other trues.

They are basically works fruit of imagination, some of them pondered and studied in detail and with a long travel behind; others are like small flashes of clarity that I have some times and after, I try to give expression to fixed images, without any plan more that people stop a few instant in front of the image and observes it with a little more attention, and if they want, they can do some questions themselves or imagine the story that could be behind every scene interpreting the reality and inducing the spectator to confuse reality and fiction.

My work is a constant manifest about one same subject: the City. The city, not only understood as the very well-known process of adding, subtracting or modifying spaces for all sorts of human activities but also as a complex system of nodes that involve and connect everybody’s blurry dreams, exacerbate passions, fearful nightmares or even tedious social life. The self-determination of the buildings manifested in the uniqueness of its combination of proportions, materials and functions behaves as the starting point of an investigative path towards the discovery of the forgotten soul of the city, (thus, myself…), which confronts consciousness and unconsciousness for the sake of finding the abnormal within the normal, the unusual around the usual, the hated among the beloved. Each part of the city acts as a catalyst of feelings, ideas and digressions that, once after its empowered soul emerges, becomes alive, unrestricted from norms, ready to fly into new, yet unexplored shapes. In cities, most spaces are achieved only by replication, thus maximizing the sublime contradiction of imitation as a source of creation. Knowing this ruthless law, I set myself the duty to witness the gravity of the urban soul while it changes from an understood shape into an intellectual experiment , always through a permeable decay towards the assumption of the volume, expelling newborn shapes as if they were already elderly. © Victor Enrich

Based in Melbourne, Australia Jeremy Geddes is a brilliant artist who aims to portray extremes of emotion in his work. Having studied painting in the early 90s, Jeremy initially worked in video games as an art director. In 2003 he returned to painting full time and has since had his paintings published and exhibited around the world. Jeremy’s paintings are highly detailed and often take months to complete. He starts with a preliminary painting where composition, color and tone are resolved. Then the painting is drawn up and mapped out using washes of color before painting begins. Once the main painting is completed he applies glazes and altering tones, adding depth to color and texture. Jeremy is most well known for his paintings of cosmonauts floating in empty landscapes, but I most like his surreal works of girls bursting into rooms through windows and walls.

Born in Naples, Italy, in 1973, Angelo Musco was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Granada, Spain, and received his BA from the Art Academy in Naples. The artist, moved to NYC in 1997 where he currently lives and works. Since arriving in the States his art practice has been focused on performance art, photography, and video work, often combining the various media in one organic project. His photo shoots, which are the foundation of his photographic work and may involve a few dozens to a couple of hundred people, have become more and more ambitious in scale and complexity, and are often held in private and public spaces, becoming a performance in their own right. Musco’s investigation into the power of aggregations found in nature such as sperm during egg fertilization, an ant colony, beehive or a school of fish has fueled his most recent works. His visionary translation of such aggregation on a massive scale is not only visible in his work but is also palpable during his photo shoots.

His work and research has evolved over the years, leading to an invitation to show his Hadal photographic installation at the 53rd annual Venice Biennale in 2009; and to his first solo show in Chicago at Carrie Secrist Gallery in 2010. Musco’s work has also been showed at galleries and art fairs in Italy, Australia, Russia, Chile, and the USA. In 2002 he was awarded the IDAA, International Digital Art Award in Australia.

My first encounter with photography took place when my parents performed some strange static dances with an object in front of their face. Later they would close themselves up in a special room under the house for long periods of time, and no one was allowed in. They diligently made sure that they were left to their own devices while inside. One day I was given permission to enter the room and allowed to stay, but on the condition that I didn't move or went out. I remember there was a unique chemical perfume and a red light. 59

I was bewildered: my parents appeared flashing a white light on a piece of paper using a strange apparatus. Then they dipped it into a clear liquid and Behold! I couldn't believe it, A miracle! They were wizards who created pictures. In the following years I didn't really follow his experiments, I was too young to manipulate cameras and I prefered to draw. Photography, Architecture and Art was always present around us and I still remember the black and white exhibitions that we visited. When I was a teenager, I continued to draw and started to paint a little. I even took part in some local exhibitions. At the age of 17 I began to take some photographs, I was especially fascinated by mineralogical micro mounts. I started studying biochemistry, but after 3 years I changed to Poitiers school of fine-arts, and took an interest in computer graphics and generated imagery. While I was there I meet Alain Fleig who introduced me to art photography. I also felt a need to practise photography, and with a friend we spent a lot of time learning how to develop films and photographs. We did sessions with models, scenery, and discovered France. The second year I had my first personal exhibition in a gallery, which was a great experience, then a training placement with Philippe SalaĂźn, who was at this time Robert Doisneau's developer. Following this I did some jobs for organizations, shows and commissioned works. I then started in December 1995 working with computer graphics and made use of the Internet. I worked in artistic direction for several years, then digital cameras came along and I found a way to work quickly and experiment without using too many resources such as film, chemicals, photo sensitive paper and of course the wonderful resource of water. I really came back to photography in 2005, testing landscape in infrared, that brings me into the world of long exposures. Now I meet and exchange information with many photographers after the freedom Digital SLRs have given me to have exactly what I want with the different lenses and power features. I continue to produce some material and I'm involved and maintain collaborative projects such as Art Limited (link: http://www.artlimited.net). 60

Jorris Martinez is a new player on the scene, having only become involved with photography for a few years. The sight of his new born daughter provided the inspiration required to make his start and all this is clearly reflected in his work. In regards to how he got started, the Frenchman has this to say : “I bought my first camera at the end of 2008, after the birth of my daughter, first to take a photo and the photo was a real revelation for me, and now I’m passionate.” His subject matter revolves around innocence. Oftentimes underlying themes are wedged into his pieces – loss, corruption and consuming sorrow. Most commonly children, his models have a startlingly pure beauty to them, a glimpse into an untainted soul granted through the eyes. Jorris Martinez’ talent has been developing in leaps and bounds. In his own words, “Now I try to improve my picture every day and I try to show my work.” Certainly one to look out for in future. © Jorris Martinez
