Dear Friends: The Board of Trustees and the staff of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation welcome you to the Guggenheim International Gala Auction 2011. We are extremely grateful to the many individuals whose integral involvement and commitment of creativity and resources have helped to make this year’s auction a remarkable presentation. We extend our sincerest thanks to the artists, gallery owners, dealers, and collectors for their exceptional donations. Furthermore, the Gala Co-Chairs have provided an extraordinary level of support to ensure the success of this year’s event. In particular, we wish to thank the Gala Co-Chairs — Jennifer Stockman, Maria Baibakova, Amy Phelan, Kara Ross, and Alberto Mugrabi — for their continuing dedication. All of us at the Guggenheim are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Phillips de Pury & Company to present this incredible selection of artwork for sale. We are pleased to be working with Chairman Simon de Pury, Senior Director Michael McGinnis, and Director Patricia G. Hambrecht, and thank each of them for contributing their time and expertise. We are particularly grateful to Peter Flores for serving as the liaison for this event and working with our staff to organize and confirm the arrangements. Our sincerest gratitude goes to Deputy Director Ari Wiseman, Deputy Director for Advancement Catherine Dunn, Director of Special Events Bronwyn Keenan, and Associate Manager of Special Events Maela Jones for their outstanding work to coordinate the many facets of the Gala Auction. We would also like to thank Deputy Director and Chief Curator Nancy Spector, and her outstanding curatorial team, including Curator, Photography Jennifer Blessing, Curator, Abu Dhabi Project Suzanne Cotter, Senior Curator, Collections and Exhibitions Susan Davidson, Senior Curator, Asian Art Alexandra Munroe, Samsung senior curator, Assistant Curator, Asian Art Sandhini Poddar, for their wonderful efforts to procure many of the extraordinary artworks featured in the auction.
