The paintings, sculptures and drawings of Thomas Scheibitz demonstrate the categorical resolution of the abstract and the figurative. Scheibitz investigates the relationship between the historical and the contemporary pictorial world, among them include references to media, advertisement, theater and film-sets. The work “gp 194” illustrates the construction of a stage with primary colours, where the open space is framed by three elements. The foreground is marked by a sign containing unknown characters, with an erected tail and a white hill. These components announce a new game in which yellow, red and blue may play a main role.
