An essential part of Rolex’s heritage and history, the ref. 16760 is a highly popular model since it boasts so many “frsts”. It was the very frst GMT-Master II, evolved from its predecessor the GMTMaster. It was also the frst model to house the new caliber 3085 which enables the wearer to adjust the GMT hand independently. Additionally, the reference 16760 features a quickset independent center hour hand which allows the hour hand to move forward and backward. The playful moniker for the 16760, “Fat Lady”, alternatively dubbed by the more complimentary nickname “Sophia Loren”, came from the elegant curves of its generously enhanced proportions, an ingenious feature to house the all-new movement inside. The “Fat Lady” was the frst in the GMT lineup to sport a red and black bezel, instantly named the ‘Coke’ by watch enthusiasts. The watch was imaginably loved and cared by its original owner, evidenced by its complete accessory set which includes the original receipt as well as the excellent condition of the watch.
