Omega Speedmasters with Special Confgurations While most Speedmaster watches feature the traditional matte black dial, there is a limited number of examples ftted with special dials, such as the superbly rare “Racing” dial and the awe-inspiring “Ultraman” dial. As there has been no decisive information as to the status of these watches ftted with a special dial, it is believed by researchers these dials were most likely developed for projects that never reached the market and therefore never ofered to the public. “Racing” dials were produced in the late 1960s. Featuring an exhilarating palette of colors on the dial, with red hour and minutes hands, white chronographic hand and a dual-leveled multi-colored minute division in white and red in the earlier examples. With three types of “racing” dials validated, the current dial from the second series refects the purpose and its afliation with racing. Produced in circa 1968, the other astonishingly rare example of a special dial is the “Ultraman”. With an obvious trait that separates the rare and the common is the presence of the lengthy orange chronographic hand. The reference earned its nickname as it reminisces the widely adored Japanese science-fction series, The Return of the Ultraman. Phillips is excited and honored to present two incredible examples of the rare and highly sought afer Omega Speedmasters ftted with the above mentioned special dials.
