Columbus State Community College - Moeller Hall Columbus State Community College (CSCC) is developing a new LEED Silver academic building to become the core of a new branch campus in rapidly growing Delaware County. CSCC is embracing environmental stewardship holistically with a sustainable building, site, campus, and academic courses offered to students.

The design brings together all of the functions of a basic college campus in an open Learning Center environment. The south facade is visually connected to the native landscape. Interior glazing is used extensively to draw daylight and views into the core of the building.

Recycled, regional, and low-emmitting materials define the building spaces. Raised flooring in the learning commons provides addiitonal adaptibility, flexibility, and control of technolgy, electrical, and mechanical systems.

John O’Riedl Hall - OSU Mansfield

John O’ Riedl Hall involved the programming and design of a new Gateway Academic and Classroom Building and Wetland Ecology Research Area. The building includes classrooms, computer labs, the Dean’s administration suite, a 150-seat auditorium, the student services, administration and faculty spaces.

The 32,000 sf building defines the north end of the oval, which is part of a new OSU Mansfield Sub-district Master Plan completed by Phillip Markwood Architects. It is integrated into the new wetlands and meadow fields development to the north.

Leawood Elementary School

Phillip Markwood Architects, in association with GBBN Architects, completed construction on a new elementary school for Columbus City Schools. The two-story 46,800 sf school includes 18 classrooms, administrative spaces, media, music, and art spaces, a gym, dining, and food services.

The project meets state OSFC requirements. The school required scheduling and coordinating the demolition of the existing school and the construction of the new building on an urban site. Specialty items, such as school colors and a laser-cut steel mascot emblem, reinforce the community identity and spirit.

Younkin Success Center

The design, a joint venture with Susan Maxman Architects, Ltd, integrated three OSU departments, an Academic Learning Center, an expanded Career Services Center, and a commercial shell to improve the integration of athletic students within the larger OSU student body.

Shared classrooms, offices, copy rooms, cafeterias, conference rooms, a resource library, and computer labs are distributed on the first three floors to encourage interaction between the departments and students.
