Sex Results Show More Students Engaging in Sexual Interaction in Male Dorms

Have you Had Sex?

STAFF REPORT This week’s installment of the 2011 State of Academy survey investigated students’ experience and opinions on sex. The results show that the percentage of students who have had sex generally increases by grade and that students are split on the purpose of parietals, with more leaning towards their use for sexual interaction. The percentage of students who responded they have had sex was slightly lower than the percentage students predicted and lower than last year’s figure, at 23.6 percent. The percentage of students having sex in each grade increases with age, except in the case of the Class of 2013, which reported

42.3 percent said that they primarily engage in sexual interaction in their rooms, which corresponds somewhat with 58.4 percent of students believing parietals are used primarily for sexual interaction. The second most popular location for sexual interactions was off campus, then academic buildings More students engage in sexual interaction in male dorms than females. Male students responded more frequently to having sexual interaction in their rooms than the rooms of their significant others. More female students responded “his/her room.” This supports this conclusion only when considering heterosexual relationships, which make up 89 percent on campus, according to the first installment of this year’s State of the Academy.

a higher percentage than the class of 2014. In each grade, the percentage of students who had sex increased since last year, but in most cases not as high as the grade before them had been. Last year, 47 percent of seniors, 32 percent of uppers, 18 percent of lowers and 4 percent of juniors responded that they had had sex. The largest change from last year was from the percentage of the Class of 2012 who had sex as lowers and the percentage of the Class of 2013 who answered yes this year, a drop from 18 percent to 7.7 percent. The percentage of seniors who reported having sex decreased second most, from 47 percent to 42.2 percent. Of students who responded to the question on where they engage in sexual interaction,

Porn Watching on the Rise: Nearly 50% of the School Watches Porn According to Survey By STAFF REPORT Fifty three percent more students respond they have had oral sex than sex, a similar trend to last year. Over a third of the student body has had oral sex, while less than a fourth has had sex. This means that even if every student who had sex also had oral six, around 12% of the student body would still have participated only in oral sex. This is similar percentage to last year, indicating that the relative popularity of sex and oral sex has remained the same. The percentages of students who are in relationships and report having sex are almost identical. There is significant correlation between the two. 53% of students currently

both on and off campus. This appears to be a higher percentage than last year when more students of both genders reported they did not watch porn than those who did. According to last year’s results, nearly 50% of boys watch porn, while almost no females did. This year’s results indicate nearly half the school watches porn, meaning either the percentage of males watching porn or females watching porn has risen. The close split in percentages between students who watch porn on campus and students who watch porn both on and off campus suggests in general Andover deters students form watching porn. Only 5.2% of students watch porn exclusively on campus, corroborating this hypothesis.

in a relationship have had sex, according this year’s survey, while only 15% currently not in a relationship report having sex. This may suggest students are more likely to have sex in relationships than out of relationships, or that simply that sexually active students are more likely to enter into relationships. More than half the students who report having sex are currently in a relationship. Note that the statistic do not show definitively whether students are having sex in relationship, or are even having sex in their current relationships. It shows only a correlation between currently being in a relationship and having had sex. Nearly half of the student body reports to have watched porn, at 47.5 percent, split between solely off campus and
