Conflans St Honorine We pay a visit to the Navigation Museum – which is devoted to France’s river heritage. The museum has a number of major works, while its collection of over two hundred reduced-size models of boats, is another of its great treasures.

Château Vaux le Vicomte Here we visit Château Vaux le Vicomte, a lavish 17th century Baroque palace with elegant gardens created for Nicolas Fouquet, Louis XIV’s financial advisor. Fouquet drew the jealous attention of the king, who arrested him and confiscated the château and its contents. Soon the same design team was working on a bigger and better château at the King’s estate nearby the Palace of Versailles.
