Layer Marney Tower is England’s tallest Tudor gatehouse and has everything you need for a great day out: historic buildings, magnificent views, play areas, gardens and acres of parkland. The Tearoom serves both light lunches as well as tea and cakes, the Shop sells souvenirs, cards and gifts. Layer Marney Tower was built in the 1520’s by Henry Marney, Lord Privy Seal to Henry VIII. His ambition was to surpass Hampton Court in both size and grandeur. Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Tuesday 5 June 11.00am – 5.00pm To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II another great Queen, Elizabeth I, repeats her visit to Layer Marney Tower, accompanied by courtly entertainers and fairies. Come and join the fun. Bottle feeding the Lambs Sunday 1 – Sunday 15 April 12.00pm – 5.00pm Extra opening to bottle feed the lambs. Come and enjoy this family activity. Every day except Friday and Saturday. Learn more about the Tower TOWER TOURS Tower Tours, for which there is no additional charge, start at 2.00pm and last approximately one hour. No need to book. INVITATION TO VIEW Guided Tours led by the owners, lasting approximately 2 hours. Include refreshments and access to parts of the house not normally open.
