Diploma Retrieval Students Meet with WorkReady Pittsburgh On March 30, 2012, seven Diploma Retrieval students from PHASE 4 Learning Center’s East Liberty location met with Allison Davies, the Director of WorkReady Pittsburgh, part of the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board, to apply for a limited number of six-week long paid internships. WorkReady Pittsburgh aims to boost students’ potential by providing this opportunity to students currently in grades 10, 11, 12 and GED students under the age of 21. Internships through WorkReady Pittsburgh expose students to the corporate world and assist in bridging the connection between school work and success. Ms. Davies presented the PHASE 4 students with materials and information about WorkReady Pittsburgh. The students filled out W-4 forms, I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms, some for the first time, and provided Ms. Davies with identification documents in the event that they are selected for the internships. Several of the companies offering internships through WorkReady Pittsburgh are: Citizens Bank, BNY Mellon, Schneider Downs, AIReS, PJ Dick, Trumbull, Highmark, Allegheny County Economic Development, UPMC and Habitat for Humanity.
