Who is Mentor2Youth? Mentor2Youth was founded by Emmanuel Jones, Business Graduate from Eastern Michigan and currently, graduate student at Michigan State University in Education. Mentor2Youth was founded based on a research project that showed how much of a positive impact a mentoring program can have on a child’s academic performance and behavioral conduct. Mentor2Youth serves over 150 youth in South Eastern Michigan Mentors vs. Mentees in a game of dodgeball

How has your summer been? FUNDRAISERS Mentor2Youth raised over $600 from two previous garage sales in which 1000 items were donated from community members in the Ypsilanti and Detroit Area. Funds from these two garage sales will go towards sending youth in the program on trips to Cedar Point and Toledo Zoo.

Hopefully you are enjoying your summer. Mentor2Youth is currently conducting academic workshops in all core subjects including Spanish for over 120 kids at the Parkridge summer camp. In addition, a small one-on-one tutoring program is being operated out of Ypsilanti District Library. Mentor2Youth has also partnered with the EMU Upward Bound program to hold Leadership training seminar and mentoring program with their students. Upward Bound students were trained for five sessions then were brought to Parkridge to run a mentoring program with over 20 elementary students in 4-5 grades.

How Can You Contribute to the Cause? Mentor2Youth is always looking for people in the community who have a passion for working with youth. A couple hours can make all the difference. Mentor2Youth has a variety of positions that may be of interest to you. We also want to be able to provide our youth with opportunities and resources that should be accessible to them, but due to the environment they live in, have become unreachable. A simple donation can provide a child the support necessary to succeed.
