COUNTY OF

ALLEGHENY Rich Fitzgerald County Executive

Dear Friends: Welcome to the 2019 Allegheny County Senior Resource Guide. Thank you to the Pittsburgh Senior News for its continued commitment to providing this resource to those in our region. Whether for yourself or someone else, we hope that the information contained herein is helpful. We know that our residents may be at different places in their lives, and the Senior Resource Guide is intended to meet them where they are and assist, whatever their needs. Our region boasts an exceptional health care system, a low cost of living, and a great quality of life – characteristics that keep older adults here, but also attract others looking for the best place to retire. It’s why Allegheny County frequently ranks in the top spots. The county, through its Department of Human Services, is continuously evaluating the changing needs of our residents and seniors and works collaboratively with partners throughout this region to connect people to the services and resources that they need. Older adults remain one of our most important assets. They have an unmatched career expertise, lived experience and, yes, even buying power. It is both our privilege and responsibility to provide connections to housing, transportation, health care, social supports, caregiving, senior services, volunteering, work, communities or retirement. We’re proud to be a community that is “for all” and work continuously to ensure that this region is more inclusive and respectful of every generation. We believe that investing in people of all ages and the communities they call home is not only right, it’s smart. As always, we’re happy to provide more information and answer questions on county services. You can call the Senior Line at 412-350-5460 or visit alleghenycounty.us/dhs/olderadults.aspx. We are grateful that you have stayed informed, educated and engaged about the issues important to all of us, and look forward to continuing to work with you for years to come. Sincerely,

Rich Fitzgerald Rich Fitzgerald
