Reception in Miami Pevonia attended the 2nd Annual “Voices of Leadership” Reception in Miami Beach in support of the National Voices for Equality, Education, and Enlightenment (NVEEE) charitable organization. Held on March 18 at the luxe Briza on the Bay reception hall at the Double Tree Hotel, celebrity spokesperson and Grammy Award-winner, Michelle Williams, also attended the event. Michelle Williams, former Destiny’s Child group member, arrived to show her support along with a few cast members from FELA. She also received special recognition for her support and efforts in her role as national spokesperson for NVEEE.

A total of 1,638,910 new cancer cases and 577,190 deaths from cancer are projected to occur in the United States in 2012. With numbers as high as these, several organizations have started to raise both awareness and funds for patients battling breast cancer. One notable organization is the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF). The goal of the BCEF is quite simple – to reduce mortality rates and to increase the likelihood of someone receiving consistent medical care without the worries of financial ruin. Pevonia recently joined forces with the BCEF as a gift bag sponsor for This Old Bag: The Power of the Purse benefit event, held at the St. Regis in San Francisco on October 19. The World Skin Cancer Foundation recently hosted the Celebrity Softball Game in Cocoa Beach, Florida on May 3rd and taught that there is fun to be had, as long as you do it safely. According to The World Skin Cancer Foundation, “Ninety percent of the skin cancers diagnosed in adults are initiated by sun exposure occurring before the age of twenty.” Pevonia Botanica along with other key sponsors committed to changing that dreaded statistic, participated in the event to raise money, hand out goodie bags, and educate over 2,000 attendees (adults and children) on safe sun practices.
