MOTIVATION

WHILE STUDYING ARCHITECTURE IN ROYAL DANISH ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS AND VILNIUS ACADEMY OF ARTS, I GAINED CURIOSITY, ACCURACY AND PURPOSEFUL THINKING. AS A RESULT, I AM ABLE TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AND GETTING BALANCED SOLUTIONS. HOWEVER, EXPERIMENTATION, WRITING AND ANALYSIS LET ME RESEARCH IDEAS I HAVE AND TEST THEM BEFORE THE PROJECT TAKES SHAPE. ALSO, I CONSTANSLY LEARNING AND DEVELOPING TOOLS THAT HELP REALIZING IDEAS. BUT I THINK, THAT DECISIONS WERE NEVER SUGGESTED BY TOOL ITSELF. FURTHERMORE, I WAS ABLE TO DEEPEN MY KNOWLEDGE WHILE WORKING IN AUSTRIA, DENMARK AND LITHUANIA. FINALLY, MY WORK IS CLOSELY LINKED WITH ARTISTIC EXPERIMENTATION AND COMPUTATION. INVENTIVE DESIGN SKILLS, AESTHETIC PERCEPTION ARE ALSO MY KEY POINTS TO MENTION. MOREOVER, I HAVE SOCIALLY ORIENTED ANALYTICAL THINKING AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. I BELIEVE, THESE QUALITIES DESCRIBE BY SKILLS BEST.

ARCHITECTURE IN MISFIT PLACES THIS PROJECT WORKS WITH A POST-TRAUMATIC AREA OF BEIRUT, WHICH HAS AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL OPENING CREATED DURING BOMBINGS OF ’64 AND ’73. THE CONCEPT OF HOW TO REVIVE THE SITE AND PATCH UP THE CITY IS TO SUPERIMPOSE DIFFERENT STRUCTURES WITH DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS ON TOP OF EACH OTHER. BY USING THIS METHOD WE CAN REFLECT ON THE MULTILAYERED CONTEXT, WHILE DIVIDING THE PROJECT INTO SMALLER PIECES. THE PROJECT HAS 3 MAIN LAYERS: 1) THE BOTTOM LAYER HAS THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL RUINS WHICH ARE EXHIBITED. RULE 1 : DO NOT BUILD ON THE FIRST LAYER. 2) THE MIDDLE LAYER IS AN INTERPRETATION OF THE PASSED HISTORIC STRUCTURES. RULE 2 : SUPERIMPOSE HISTORICAL LAYERS IN ORDER TO GET FUNCTION AREAS. 3)THE TOP LAYER IS A COMPLETELY NEW LIGHTWEIGHT TRANSLUCENT TENT STRUCTURE, WHICH REACTS TO THE BOTTOM LAYERS WHILE KEEPING ITS MODERN APPEARANCE. RULE 3 : CREATE A ROOFSCAPE FOR SUPERIMPOSED LAYERS.

AND WILL THE WHOLE RESEARCH ON CUSTOMIZATION HAVE AN IMPACT ON OTHER DICIPLINES, IF THESE MACHINES EXIST SINCE GENERATIONS, WHEREAS ALL OF THEM MAKE THE SAME THING AND THIS EXACT, FAST AND CHEAP?
