FUNERAL
Definition
DEFINITION
Funeral Religion
From anthropological aspect, funeral is a ceremony for honoring, respecting, sanctifying or remembering the life of a person who has died.
Region
FUNERAL
Region
Christian
Buddhist
Hindu
Islamic
Most involve offering prayers, scripture reading from the Bible, a sermon, homily, or eulogy, and music.
A Buddhist funeral marks the transition from one life to the next for the deceased. It also reminds the living of their own mortality.
The rite of passage is said to be performed in harmony with the sacred premise that the microcosm of all living beings is a reflection of a macrocosm of the universe.
Islamic religious law calls for burial of the body, preceded by a simple ritual involving bathing and shrouding the body, followed by salat (prayer).
Rather than a destructive process such as cremation, burial was the traditional practice amongst Christians, because of the belief in the resurrection of the body
Both the body and the universe are vehicles and transitory in various schools of Hinduism. They consist of five elements: air, water, fire, earth and space.
“ Funeral is not only for the
person who dead, it’s also for the person who still alive. It’s a media of spiritual comfort transportation.

DEATH AND THE CITY
Height Analysis Comparing to the heavy-hearted monuments, the lissome balloons represent a more peaceful relationship with death. The transient tower formed by the balloons is more conspicuous than any other building in the city skyline. For pedestrians walking on the streets, the balloons cast shades and shelter rain above their heads.
DEATH AND THE CITY
Design Concept As a balloon rises, a person is gradually being forgotten by the rest of the world. When the balloon finally flies to the sky, it means the person is fully buried into history. The rising process is a farewell ritual to the deceased. As balloons travel into the sky, the whole city participates in the commemoration of the deceased. The rising balloons not only remember the deceased but also remind the living, “In the long river of life, have you forgotten someone? Undoubtedly, as time goes by, some people will be forgotten. Also, new ashes will be placed in the balloons. As the balloons rise one after another, the challenge of cemetery space has received a sustainable answer. Here, the course of life is represented by the rising balloons: unceasingly, lives come and go.

DESIGN CONCEPT
Namaste “I bow to the divine in you.” In the contemporary era, Namaḥ means 'bow', 'obeisance', 'reverential salutation' or 'adoration' and te means 'to you' (singular dative case of 'tvam'). Therefore, Namaste literally means "bowing to you". In Hinduism, it also has a spiritual import reflecting the belief that "the divine and self (atman, soul) is same in you and me", and connotes "I bow to the divine in you". According to sociologist Holly Oxhandler, it is a Hindu term which means, “the sacred in me recognizes the sacred in you”.
DESIGN CONCEPT
Namaste The gesture of Namaste are put two hands in front of chest and combined. It is a ritual to show deep respect.
It is believed that Namaste can make you feel calm and stable.
The gesture of Namaste represents peace, unity and fulfillment.
Ten fingers in one direction means the cohesion and unity of ten forces.
Namaste means walking to wish, by walking with wishes dream can come true.

Leading by the focused light and walk along the staircase to the platform, the outdoor dynamic space that symbolizes vitality. The circular layout represents the cohesion and unity of the power. People first focus on the waterfall at the corner, water flowing to the pool in the middle. The highest level of the middle water feature is same as humen eyelevel, which lead their visual to see beyond the feature that symbolizes namaste – life and hope.

Design Statement After the dialogue with nature in the circular path, here is the final destination of the journey. Before entering the 7.5m high ceiling area people need to walk though the narrow and low headroom tunnel in order to create a visual contrast. Surrounding by the bamboo with different height going up from the side to the middle, a big chandelier with special material to symbolize the life turns to eternity gem – that is not the end, it is another beginning.
Blow molten liquid glass inside dry wooden molds. The heat of the inflated glass burned the wood, which in turn left the crackled imprints on the glass. Each of the molds is only for one unique lighting feature because of the fact that all the texture is burnt, so you cannot reuse it so each of the lighting features has its own identity and living story behind it."
