ABOUT US Peters and Associates, Architects, P. C. is a highly experienced firm, which has a diversity of professional experience. Founded in 1983, the firm has served a variety of clients, including municipalities and political subdivisions, corporations, private individuals and developers. The projects we have done are located throughout a ten-state area in the Midwest and Southwest. Peters and Associates, Architects, P.C. has extensive experience in design of all facets of long term care, including renovations, additions, and complete new facilities. Since the firm was founded, we have completed in excess of ninety (90) individual design contracts in the long term care field. Our clients have found that professional assistance from a firm with a strong background in long-term care design makes a big difference. We also work with clients in the planning and programming phase. If we can be involved early in the process, prior to beginning architectural design, we can assist with evaluation options resulting in a building program that is more on-target to the needs of the facility. Through this team approach at initial phases, our experience in planning and programming will result in a design that fulfills the needs more effectively. Sustainable Design The project team is dedicated to innovative, environmentally sensitive design solutions and we recognize that saving energy begins with teamwork. We have learned that a significant reduction in energy consumption can be achieved by involving our clients in the initial establishment of the project’s energy goals and in the examination of decisions made during the design process. BIM Process Peters and Associates, Architects, P. C. has adopted the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process as a standard of practice to provide our clients with the best possible solutions on schedule and within budget. This process has proven to reduce coordination issues by modeling facility components in a comprehensive, three-dimensional virtual environment. The BIM process is no longer a linear, top-down organizational method like that of its predecessors, but an integrated process through which information is continuously shared between all disciplines. 7

His diverse experience includes multiple project types and all facets of the design and construction process. JONATHAN BELL Project Architect, Designer Since receiving his master’s degree from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, Jonathan Bell has been an active team member and Project Manager for a wide variety of project types. His experience includes religious, financial, civic, and health care facilities. These projects include major renovation and new construction ranging from $50,000 to $13,000,000. Jonathan has extensive experience in graphic rendering from a background in Art that compliments his abilities as a planner and designer. His expertise includes coordination of projects with design architects, direction of consulting engineers, and compliance with building, fire and safety codes. • Architectural Degree: Master of Architecture, University of Nebraska - Lincoln, 1995 • Professional Experience: 16 years

JESSE MCCONNELL, LEED BD+C, ASSOCIATE AIA Project Manager, Designer, Planner Jesse McConnell has been an active team member for a wide variety of project types. His experience includes religious, civic, and health care facilities. These projects include major renovation and new construction ranging from $50,000 to $13,000,000. Jesse has extensive experience in computer rendering that compliments his abilities as a planner and designer. Elkhorn, Nebraska

The project was originally an upgrade to the major service areas of a large one story nursing care and rehabilitation facility. The upgrade was composed of a 3,000 plus square foot addition to house administrative offices, front lobby, new main entrance with a porte-cochere. The addition expanded the main dining room along with over 10,000 square feet of renovated area used for dining and activity, physical therapy, nursing and care giver staff offices. The project continued to expand in scope throughout the complete design and construction due to the Owners efforts to continually enhance their overall image of the facility.




This project was a 22,000 plus square foot, single story free standing Assisted Living Facility. The project provided 22 unit living quarters with activity and dining areas along with large kitchen, staff, and lounge areas. A resident laundry, whirlpool, and fire place enhanced this facility along with front and rear porches. Half a dozen garages along with a stone columned porte-cochere were constructed to augment the facilities amenities.





Louisville, Nebraska

This project features 22 Assisted Living units of one and two-bedroom configuration Co-located with the existing skilled care facility, the project was designed as two stories, to take advantage of the existing topography. The design incorporates a dramatic two story lobby and lounge area at the main entrance.


COMMUNITY MEMORIAL HEALTH CENTER SKILLED NURSING PRELIMINARY POD DESIGN Hartley, Iowa This Patient-Centered Care unit was created as a result of the clients request for a home-like environment for their Alzheimer patients. The pod design included 14 private patient rooms with private toilets. The client requested to have only a central bath in lieu of private bathing facilities in each room; which is now becoming common in patient centered care facilities. A centrally located nurse workstation allows the nurse to have visibility to all patient rooms and exits. The kitchen was designed to allow patients and staff to cook desserts and minor meals. The central atrium space is designed to bring in important natural daylight giving patients and staff a better indoor environment. This pod is connected directly to the main nursing home which provided other services such as physical therapy and food service. PLEASANT VIEW INDEPENDENT/ASSISTED LIVING Albert City, Iowa This 16 unit project was designed to complement the services of an existing skilled nursing facility. Each of the spacious one and two bedroom units features a private balcony. The Independent living facility has a separate entrance, parking and common areas. The building is connected to the skilled facility and shares a common kitchen.




This 46 unit project provides spacious assisted living accommodations in a suburban setting. This design compliments the residential scale and detail of the surrounding neighborhood, allowing the facility to blend as an integral part of the community.



COMMUNITY MEMORIAL HEALTH CENTER ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY ADDITION Hartley, Iowa This addition to an existing skilled facility consists of 16 units, featuring a front entry porch with outside seating. A central dining room affords views in two directions, and compliments a private dining room for family gatherings.




The project was a ten unit 11,300 square feet assisted living addition connected to the existing Nursing Home. Notable features included a large common area with a sloped ceiling sky lighted with Kalwall panels, private dining and private main dining rooms, kitchen and a barber/beauty.



MILLARD GOOD SAMARITAN CENTER THERAPY AND CHAPEL ADDITION Millard, Nebraska A major renovation project, this design provides a new entrance, parking, activity spaces, chapel, and administrative offices. The design features a drive-through canopy and presents a fresh new street appearance. Renovated spaces included resident rooms, dining and therapy areas. Window replacement and insulation of exterior walls completed the project.


COVINGTON HEIGHTS CARE CENTER THERAPY AND SUB-ACUTE ADDITION Sioux Falls, South Dakota A full function therapy facility for both inpatient and outpatient use, this unique project featured a drive-through canopy for an inviting street image. The project also involved conversion of an existing building into a dedicated sub-acute care facility.

GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF PRACTICE Peters and Associates, Architects, P.C. has provided professional services for multiple projects at a distance. Our completed works are located throughout Nebraska, each surrounding state, as well as other distant states.

To effectively respond to our large market area, we operate a company aircraft, which has greatly enhanced our mobility. The efficiency that private flying affords our personnel has enabled us to maintain the control over projects located at a distance, which is critical to their successful completion. We provide complete architectural services for all of our projects, including administration of the construction contract. The use of private aviation has made it practical for our firm to pursue projects at a distance. Drive times of 5 hours are normally reduced to less than 1½ hours by flying, allowing more efficient use our time, and significantly expanding our market area.
