Once again, together with our global office network we have been moving boats in preparation for various boat shows this season. We have shipped in a Nordhavn 47, Fleming 65 and a Trader 38 from the Far East to the Southampton Boat Show. We also have a ship loading during the first few days of the Southampton Boat Show with 15 yachts destined for the Genoa International Boat Show, which takes place in October. Other shipments include the allnew Fairline Squadron 65, which is making her debut at the Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show prior to the Genoa International Boat Show. We have also transported the Princess V62, the Princess V65 and the Sealine T50 to the Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show and have also been moving numerous boats from the USA for these shows. Other boat show shipments include a Lagoon 400 to Baltimore in time for the United States Sailboat Show in October. The Peters & May team will also be on hand at various boat shows to offer information on the entire boat transportation process. When moving a customer’s boat we are entrusted to take care of a valued asset and that is why we provide a direct point of contact to each of our customers, giving peace of mind and support throughout the entire process. Come and meet our team of experts during the Cannes, Southampton, Genoa and Fort Lauderdale Boat Shows.

Update: USA

First Appearance at Cannes

Peters & May USA Inc recently announced it has been selected as the Preferred International Freight Forwarder for two major US manufacturers, Orlando based Correct Craft Inc, builders of the award winning Nautique ski/wakeboard/crossover boat range and Viking Yacht Company, which builds competitive sports fishing boats from 42 to 84 feet.

Peters & May France recently announced that it is exhibiting at the Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show for the first time. Since the official opening at the beginning of the year, the Peters & May France team has proactively engaged the market, building key relationships with major builders as well as dealers and private individuals. “We offer a dedicated approach to boat transportation and tailor our services to meet the specific requirements of each sector, from manufacturers exporting boats in a challenging economic climate to dealers looking to extend their service to customers. We also work closely with private owners, overseeing paperwork and legalities,” comments Thibaut De Montvalon, Managing Director, Peters & May France.

“Together with the longstanding reputation and experience of the global Peters & May team and our expertise and contacts in the local market, we manage the entire boat transportation process, moving customer

Both companies recognise the experience, expertise and world-wide support offered by Peters & May and will be recommending them as their first choice for the overseas shipment of new boats to dealers and international shows. Dave Holley, MD of Peters & May USA Inc sees these recent appointments as testament to his team’s dedication and professionalism. “We are proud that companies with great heritage and brand value such as Correct Craft Inc and Viking Yachts have chosen us as their preferred shipper. Our dedicated team take boat transportation seriously and as

When handling an enquiry for transportation of vessels for individual owners – particularly those doing so for the first time, the list of questions asked is extensive and there is much for our teams to explain. These questions have traditionally been handled verbally, or with a collection of various information sheets.

Chicago based Peters & May Inc is a Federal Maritime Commission licensed NVOCC with strong contracts with global shipping lines due to the annual volume of boats transported. It further safeguards secure transportation by investing in its own equipment including lifting gear and an extensive range of cradles that will support boats from 1-120 tonnes. Through the Peters & May network of global offices it offers a turnkey solution for US manufacturers exporting to dealers or exhibiting at international shows and events and handles overseas transport of boats from 20ft to 120ft feet. Using experienced personnel within its global office network the company manages fiscal clearance, customs and legal documentation wherever the destination port may be located in the world. Peters & May will also handle CE marking for US boats entering the European Market.

Innovative Peters & May Trailer Our extensive stock of yacht cradles is unrivalled and coupled with our trained boat loaders, enables us to move boats correctly and safely and efficiently, even at short notice.

For the first time we have put together all of our knowledge into an easy leaflet which we will be available at the Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show and the Southampton Boat Show in September. It has been written by our experienced team at HQ in Southampton to help people understand what is required of them. The leaflet outlines the process from the moment the enquiry comes in to the time their boat is discharged at its destination port. It includes a handy A-Z list of how to deal with the various items on a boat, from anchors to winches.

many of us are boaters ourselves, we understand that whether the boat is valued at $8,000 or $800,000, to its owner it is precious cargo.”

Since the early 1980s, we have been providing race logistics to a number of global yachting events as well as individual race boat campaigns. Our experience is extensive and ensures that the race teams receive equipment, replacement parts and aid when they need it most.

We have recently completed our year-long global support to race partners Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and Volvo Ocean Race Teams, providing support to the race villages across 10 countries within 5 continents throughout the duration of the 2008-2009 Volvo Ocean Race. The Peters & May team was appointed to transport shore-support equipment to the race teams and organisers by air. “We were on hand to provide full support to the race teams and race organisers, delivering spares from winches and freeze dried food to replacement booms and entire bow sections all

around the world. Shore-support is vital to the success of the campaign and it is important that the race teams have everything they need close to hand. Our experience and involvement prior to the start of the race ensured that we had everything in place to react quickly to each of the teams’ requirements. Having excellent contacts with key suppliers around the world ensured that we were able to urgently respond to problems as they happened, ensuring that the yachts were back on track as soon as possible with minimal disruption,” says Craig Stanbury – Yacht and Racing Logistics Manager, Peters & May.

We are continually looking at ways in which we can improve our service to each of our customers and have recently developed a dedicated trailer system to provide services on Ro-Ro vessels where height is limited. As these innovative trailers negate the need for a separate cradle and make it much simpler and quicker to load boats that are difficult to handle, we have been able to offer even more flexibility to customers requiring swift boat transportation. We currently have three trailers in operation, with one of our most recent shipments including a Princess V53 to Rio de Janeiro.

Peters & May arranges the largest shipment of luxury yachts to SE Asia We have recently arranged what is believed to be the largest single shipment of luxury UK built motor yachts on Maersk Line’s Far East route. Four Princesses and a new Sunseeker 30m made up the shipment valued in excess of £10m in a move that could be possibly viewed as a sign of the increasingly positive outlook in the region.

Official Logistics Supplier to Audi MedCup Circuit

Peters & May is Maersk Line’s largest client in Northern Europe based on the volume of break bulk cargo (non container freight) shipped and the two companies have worked together for 15 years. Gerald Price, Marine Director at Peters & May commented, “Over many years we have earned a reputation for safe and secure transport of these valuable cargoes. Throughout the world and here in the UK the major motoryacht builders entrust us with their high value superyachts. A key benefit of using Peters & May for complex shipments is that we are able to use our own professionally trained load masters to oversee loading and discharge. Indeed on arrival in Singapore the four Princesses’ discharge will be handled by the Peters & May office in SE Asia before their onward sea transportation to Raffles Marina. The boats will later be attending The Singapore Grand Prix. The 30 metre Sunseeker is the first of this new model to arrive into Hong Kong with more to follow, including the new 34 metre.” While not to be viewed as any true indication that business is showing significant growth, Gerald continued, “As the company that probably ships the majority of UK new builds overseas, we saw a fall from late 2008 until recently. However, we have seen some signs of an upturn in boats going into SE Asia from various parts of the world – either to dealerships or directly to clients.”

Mini-Maxi’s shipping to UK with Peters & May We recently shipped some of the most modern and extreme sailing yachts into the UK in time for Cowes Week and The Fastnet Race. Both the Judel-Vrolijk designed “Ran II” and STP65 “Luna Rossa” were safely unloaded in Southampton. At the same time across the Atlantic, the Farr designed STP65 “Rosebud” was being loaded in Newport R.I. also bound for Southampton. We are also working with the newly built NZ 80ft Maxi, “Beaue Geste” during her time in Europe, assisting with customs procedures and container logistics. We have also shipped the US TP52 “Lucky” into the UK and continue to work with well known British yachts such as Leopard 3 as well as providing logistical support for the Open 60’s who will be campaigning in this year’s racing.

The shipment commenced on the 16th August and is taking only 20 days to arrive at its final destination.

Peters & May Spain has announced that it has been selected as the Official Logistics Supplier for the Audi MedCup Circuit. The company has been transporting each of the team’s equipment to the race villages, starting in Alicante before moving on to Marseille, Cagliari, Portimao and finally to Cartagena. The equipment will then be transported to Palma as the yachts compete in the World Championships, taking place in October.

Peters & May Spain has also recently organised the logistics for the race teams of the varying classes in the ‘Copa del Rey’, which took place at the beginning of August. The Peters & May Spain team offers multi-lingual support with Spanish, English and German spoken. Brokerage sales is a key market in the region and the team has also been shipping customer boats to Greece and Turkey as well as further afield, to the Caribbean, Dubai and the Far East.

Gulf Craft appoints Peters & May UAE Based in Dubai, Peters & May UAE has been operational since April 2008 and has a permanent staff of three to support manufacturers, dealerships and private client business in the area. The office has recently announced its appointment by the Middle East’s largest boat and yacht manufacturer, Gulf Craft Inc as preferred shipping partner.

Rouben Brosen, General Manager was delighted with the agreement, “Gulf Craft and Peters & May have worked together for many years and we have consistently offered them the professional support required by a volume producer. By choosing to work closely with a single global logistics supplier, they will be able to hand over the entire transport process to a world-wide team of qualified logistics professionals. Their dealerships in turn will benefit from our service which covers collection and delivery, provision of surveys, delivery skippers, boat coverings and cradles and includes all paperwork from start to finish.” Owing to the current depressed market conditions, business is quiet as manufacturers are moving fewer vessels into the area. As the busy (and cooler) winter season approaches, we expect shipments to pick up especially as we start the run up to Dubai International Boat Show (3rd – 9th March 2010) and Abu Dhabi Yacht Show (25th – 27th March 2010) The Peters & May UAE team offers multi-lingual support with Dutch, English, German, Hindi and Spanish spoken. They handle all elements of the logistics chain, including the paperwork and are all trained on the complex Emirate customs system. Their strong relationships with the various port authorities ensure that they are updated on the ever-changing shipping regulations within the area. Gulf Craft manufacturers up to 700 boats a year between 30-130 feet within their three brands, Silver Craft, Oryx and the internationally acclaimed Majesty Yachts.

Peters & May transports around 8000 boats annually around the globe. Our reputation has been established through commitment to excellence, attention to detail and market awareness. Having shipped our first yacht in 1988, we have gone on to work with prestigious boat manufacturers and companies such as the America’s Cup, the RYA, Sunseeker, Princess, Fairline, Oyster and many high profile racing teams. A leader in yacht transportation and global marine logistics solutions, Peters & May Ltd has
