The LONGEST Lunch of All Each year everyone asks – how do you do it? Lunch for 1772 guests is no easy feat, but thanks to PRC’s dedicated team of talented chefs, logistics and event planners this year’s The Bank of Melbourne World’s Longest Lunch to launch the 2017 Melbourne Food & Wine Festival was another success. Staged on a 600 metre long table down Carlton’s iconic Lygon Street, the event was a celebration of all things Italian. With a four course, rustic menu inspired by Antonio Carluccio’s new book ‘Vegetables’, PRC specially grew 2000 heirloom tomatoes from seed to fruit just for one of the dishes. “Peter Rowland Catering do it better than anyone else...” said Antonio as he enjoyed his lunch amidst roving singers, free flowing wine and simple Italian styling.
PARTY of the Year A bayside residence provided the inspiration for PRC to produce this lavish private celebration. From arranging festoon lighting and giant tipi, to personalised napery and seaside infused décor, PRC’s total event management ensured guests enjoyed a tailored menu (mud crab anyone?) with matching wines culminating in a private fireworks display. Guests danced the night away, dressed in their ‘all white’ dress code.
How to did Mercer choose to make a bold brand statement? They combined an exclusive, after-hours private viewing of the acclaimed Viktor & Rolf exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria followed by an intimate degustation dinner inspired by the couture creativity of designers. With exquisite styling by Edward & Tea and Botanics Melbourne matched with a bespoke menu, this exclusive event has been one of the most coveted corporate invitations to date this year.
ON THE MENU
FEAST ING It’s the season for hearty dishes, shared plates and food to warm the soul. Peter Rowland Catering Group Executive Sous Chef, Matthew Haigh shares his seasonal tips for bringing some hot hospitality to the table. “Winter is a great time to change the way you serve your food as well as the types of dishes you select for your guests,” says Matthew. This season, PRC’s head chef suggests giant grazing tables to get guests mingling with red wine, seek out spicy canapés to warm things up a little or tantalise guests by using seasonal ingredients such as truffles. “Bountiful shared platters also works perfectly for wintry fare and it’s a great way to make any style of lunch or dinner event more relaxed and convivial,” he adds. Comfort food never goes astray during winter either – “Our winter desserts from our cocktail menus through to banquets are transforming traditional favourites into something far more glamorous.” And don’t forget to add a warming drink to the menu during winter events. From the Runway to The Plaza, fashionistas attending the Festival events were treated to on trend cocktails and small bites in the specially created pop-ups and activations surrounding the Royal Exhibition Building, while other guests enjoyed beautifully tailored corporate packages in private marquees and runway suites created by PRC. Forty years of fabulous animation and claymation of adored characters Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Chicken Run from the Oscar winning studio Aardman will be celebrated in a special exhibition at ACMI. Curated by animation specialists from Art Ludique-Le Musée of Paris and the Aardman Animations team, there’ll be a host of original artworks, sketchbooks, concept drawings, storyboards, puppets and sets – a perfectly creative setting for a corporate event with a difference.
