Be sure to look out for... Maurice Huggett's Portrait Maurice Huggett, the infamous host of The Phoenix, was renowned for wearing gaudy waistcoats. His numerous innovations included 'The Sausagearium', 'Radio Phoenix' and the playing of the National Anthem at closing time. Rumour has it he continues to perform ghostly patrols of the Phoenix, making his presence known should someone dare to touch the props.

The Phoenix Watching over the main staircase is a copy of the famous painting by one of the leading Dutch artists of the 18th Century, Cornelius Troost (1696-1750). Picturing a Phoenix rising from the ashes, the painting would originally have hung above the entrance to one of the grandest rooms in the Dutch embassy.

Glass Panels Scattered throughout the main bar and Members' Lounge are a series of glass panels depicting parts of theatreland including the Phoenix, Palladium and Globe theatres, as well as an orchestral pit. Dating from the 1930s and at a time when canvas was in short supply, scenery such as this was painted onto glass and then varnished.

Signed Show Posters Over one hundred signed posters spanning almost 120 years of theatre are framed around the club. Look out for names like Helen Mirren, Danny DeVito, Michael Gambon, The Pythons, Judi Dench, Jonathan Pryce and countless other West End Royalty. Do check out the Members Lounge festooned with theatrical memorabilia dating back to the 1850s.

Head Shots Often referred to as the 'In out and shake 'em all about' head shots, patrons of the club both past and present place a high value on having their 10'' x 8'' displayed on our Wall of Fame.

Airline Seats These training seats resided at East Midlands Airport for twenty years, originally fitted to 'AA' - The first Boeing 767-200 aircraft to fly in the UK. Ken Wright, Managing Director of The Phoenix operated the last ever operational flight of AA back from Indonesia before she ended up in a breaker's yard in the Mojave Desert. They are frequently referred to as the 'most unusual seats in London'.

House Rules 1) Please respect members’ privacy and refrain from making any unsolicited requests or taking any photographs. One day we will all be Jude Law. 2) Please ask a member of staff before moving furniture. As Maurice would say, “Don’t touch the props, leave the props alone!”. Imagine descending in your bubble and someone has moved the Grimmerie… 3) Our food is delicious, and our bar well stocked so please do not consume food or drink sourced from elsewhere. We are not in Digs now! 4) Our Club is closed occasionally for filming and private functions, so members are encouraged to check social media or call in before visiting. Just so you can boast about who is in. 5) There will be no chewing of gum at any time while in the Club. Or else, Maggot, you will find yourself in The Chokey. 6) Upon leaving the Club please be considerate of our neighbours. A Gondola trip down Phoenix Street shouting “Sing for me, my Angel” will not be appreciated. Other than that, “Anything Goes”
