Pre-Ballet Children learn essential technique as they act and dance stories, listen to and clap the rhythms of classical music, learn how to stretch and balance, pretend, imagine and improvise while having lots of fun. Attire: Girls-leotard, tights and pink ballet slippers. Boys-shorts, t-shirt, ankle socks and black ballet slippers. Ongoing monthly registration for those classes that are full, registration for new students starts the 16th of each month for the following month. Ballet, Tap & Jazz This is a great introduction to rhythm and movement! During class we transform from graceful cats to tapping alligator and other fun characters. The class covers the basic tap and ballet steps. We also play a variety of musical instruments in a parade to work on rhythm. Parents are always welcome to observe classes. Come in your favorite dance attire. Tap and ballet shoes are provided!

Come dance with us and let us share our joy of dance with your youngster. Your young dancer will be introduced to rhythms and movement through dance and mime. We use hand-held instruments, costumes and props to enhance motor development. Moms or Dads participate with their child for a wonderful sharing experience. Dance with Petaluma School of Ballet
Children are taught basic ballet movement. They will dance and pretend as they act out stories using dance movement. We use a variety of music to enhance musical rhythms and incorporate clapping and listening, using stretching and improvisation while having lots of fun. Judo is a Martial Art that was developed in Japan from Jujitsu in the late 19th century. Judo translates to the “gentle way” and teaches the principle of flexibility in the application of technique. This includes the efficient use of balance, leverage, and movement in the performance of Judo throws and other skills. Learn skill, technique, and timing, rather than the use of brute strength to overcome a stronger opponent. All students must register with USJA or USJF. This is an annual membership required for all students to compete in tournaments, promotions, and insurance. Promotions will be based on student’s commitment and ability and will not be required to take any “tests” but based on the traditional method of promotion as practiced in Japan. Judo Gis are required and can be purchased from the instructor.

Kinder Kickz Soccer class is non-competitive and activity-based for children 6-10 years old that combines 10 minutes of free play followed by 50 minutes of structured soccer activities to help teach basic soccer skills (passing, kicking, dribbling, juggling, scoring, basic scrimmage play), along with motor skills (balance, coordination, running control) and social skills (listening, bulding confidence, teamwork, sharing, sportsmanship). Each day will end with a scrimmage. Each child should wear tshirt, shorts, tennis shoes, and shinguards. We supply all the equipment. This class will explore silkscreen printmaking techniques in a fun way. We will explore monotype silkscreening, the use of stencils and registration for multiple color printing and how colors can overlap to mix colors in an image. Students will be facilitated to create two editions of 10 prints of 3 colors. No experience or equipment needed. $15 materials fee is due on the first day of class.
This entry-level class will introduce you to your digital camera. We will cover basic camera buttons and options. Topics will include ISO, white balance, correct exposure, Jpegs, shutter speed, aperature, and printing. Basic photography tips and composisiton will be covered. Instruction will include lecture, demonstration and video. Bring your camera to each class. $12 supply fee to be paid to the instructor at first class.

How to Use Your Digital SLR Camera This class is designed for adults who own a digital SLR or a digital camera with advanced and manual features. You will learn about your camera controls, aperture, shutter speeds, exposure compensation, ISO control, and white balance. Use different lenses, flashers, filters, and more.
