First, let’s cover school-wide and 8th grade information that will be important for you to know beginning

(2:32-2:35—3 Minute Locker Break before Connections) 2:39 – 4:05 - Connections (86 min.) 4:05 – 4:30 - Bus Calls

4:05 PM Classroom Projections Will Be Turned On 4: 08 PM Front office will release walkers and car riders. (Exit School through Main Entrance in Front!) Students should view the screen to locate their bus. 4:10- 4:15 PM Student not released until they hear the following announcement: “You may now release students that ride a bus in the first wave� Students involved in any after-school activity (including soccer) and those that will ride a bus in the second wave should remain in the classroom.

4:15-4:25 PM Second wave buses /after-school activity students called. (Special car riders announced via the PA at approximately 4:08) Riding different bus today? Must have APPROVAL PASS from Academy Office. Serious Rules between 4:05 and 4:30 every day: Can’t visit other teachers. Restroom? Call button - administrator must escort a student. If you leave room? Mr. Bundrage must be alerted.

School-Wide Discipline You should know the general rules that Administrators expect: 1. Enter class quietly and be seated. 2. Bring all materials to class everyday. (e.g., textbooks, pencils, paper, and agenda books) 3. Respect yourself, others, and others property. 4. Follow all directions of faculty and staff the first time they are given. 5. Observe all rules in the student handbook.

School-Wide Discipline If you choose not to meet expectations: ►First Offense — Teacher warning ► Second Offense — If behavior persists, the teacher will intervene by seat change, silent lunch. Etc/ (Teacher will probably contact parent at this time.) ► Third Offense — Teacher detention with parent contact 30-60 minute detention is assigned ► Fourth Offense — Teacher / Team Assigns Administrative Detention, After School for 2 hours. Afterschool Detention is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM.

School-Wide Discipline If you choose not to meet expectations: ► Fifth Offense — “Student Exchange Program”— student is given time-out for an entire day, with appropriate amount of individual work from subject teacher. Assigning teacher wilt call parent to explain the situation AND schedule a “Team” Parent Conference. An Administrator will be present for the Parent Conference. ► Sixth Offense — Teacher submits an Administrative Referral and parents are contacted.

School-Wide Discipline If you choose not to meet expectations Suspension and/or a disciplinary panel may result immediately for: 1. Possession or distribution of narcotics, alcohol, stimulant drugs or pretense of possession or distribution of the same. This includes prescription and/or over-the- counter drugs. 2. Assault on a school employee, both verbal and/or physical. 3. Obscene gestures toward a school employee.

School-Wide Discipline If you choose not to meet expectations Suspension and/or a disciplinary panel may result immediately for: 4. Possession or distribution of guns, knives, dangerous weapons or implements, slingshots, or any type of explosives including poppers. 5. Indecency. 6. Possession, distribution, and/or use of tobacco. 7. Fighting.

Restroom Visits Emergency-only Visits to Restroom 1. Students Sign Out of Class on Log. 2. Students report directly to their Academy Office. 3. An Academy Administrator or another adult will escort the student to the restroom—checking the restroom for any graffiti, damage, trashing, etc. while the student waits outside the restroom. Once the Administrator or other adult checks the restroom, the student is given permission to enter the restroom while the Administrator or other adult waits in the hall.

Restroom Visits Cont’d Emergency-only Visits to Restroom 4. The Administrator or other adult must recheck the restroom for any graffiti, damage, trashing, etc. after the student has finished using the restroom, while the student waits outside the restroom. 5. The Administrator or other adult will then walk the student back to the classroom at which time the student will sign-in. 6. A hall monitor will walk students to the restroom between 12:00 and 4:00. Administrators or clerks will escort students from 9:20 - 12:00.

Student Dress Code YOU Are Responsible for Reading & Understanding the Dress Code as Written in the Student Handout! â–ş Students are expected to comply with the following dress code. Noncompliance will result in disciplinary action. â–ş A student will be required to change clothing if, in the judgment of the administration, a student is dressed inappropriately. Additionally, any student dress and/or appearance that may not be stated specifically in this code, but that administration deems distracting, will not be permitted.
