After conquering the Aztecs, the Spanish were the first Europeans to use cocoa. It was initially prepared in the traditional manner, but cooks began to experiment as the drink grew in popularity. It was not until the mid-1500s that chocolate was first served warmed and sweetened, similar to modern hot chocolate. The first eating chocolate was created by the Fry Company of Bristol, England in 1847 after 1,000 years of being served solely as a beverage. Milk Chocolate was first created in 1875 by Daniel Peter – Son-in-law of Henri Nestle. Condensed milk was the secret to the creamy taste.
