There is a big difference between what you are taught in a classroom and what you find through an internship. It has given me a solid foundation in IT, added to my skills, given me an edge over other graduates and increased my employability.

Prabison Chitrakar Accounting Professional WIL Placement Program Starting off my career as an intern didn’t seem like a good idea to me at first. However I decided to take it up to obtain real workplace experience. During my Work Integrated Learning placement, I really enjoyed being involved in different projects. My mentor was very friendly and every learning curve was interesting and fun. I learnt how to operate an ERP system, implications of FBT and how to calculate it, preparation of VAT return, the value of attention to detail and more. The experience in this multinational company gave me the opportunity to interact with senior staff and I learned a lot from them. This is something you can’t buy with money. I was also offered a full time role after the internship! Looking back, I think this is one of the best decisions I have made. I would definitely recommend taking an internship to my friends and relatives – give it a go and see if that is what you want to be doing in your future.
