Sunshine Beach was closed for days as flood waters wreaked havoc.

FLOODING HITS BEACHES BEACHES ALL OVER THE SUNSHINE COAST WERE CLOSED FOR DAYS LAST WEEK IN THE WAKE OF MAJOR FLOODING IN THE REGION.

In the space of five days from February 23 to 27, the Eastern Beaches from Sunshine Beach to Peregian Beach copped nearly 650mm of rain, including a few wild storms that saw branches fall from trees and storm water run off rushing out to sea. The flooded roads in the region forced the cancellation of a number of events including Noosa Council’s Frog Workshop at Peregian Community House (postponed until March 16) and Eastern Beaches News - March 2022

a Zero Emissions Noosa event scheduled for February 25 at Peregian Community House. Difficulties with staff not being able to make it to work, and the need to stay off the roads saw a number of businesses up and down the coastal strip closed for different periods of time. With the Bruce Highway cut to the north at Gympie and south at Caboolture for nearly two days, supplies at local supermarkets were dwindling on Monday night, although they were expected to be replenished on March 1 once the highway re-opened.
