MOTHER’S DAY Quotes A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn, hundreds of bees in the purple clover, hundreds of butterflies on the lawn, but only one mother the wide world over. Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love. The sweetest sounds to mortals given Are heard in Mother, Home, and Heaven. If you have a mom, there is nowhere you are likely to go where a prayer has not already been. A man's work is from sun to sun, but a mother's work is never done. ~Author Unknown

A LETTER TO MOM - DEAR Titil- (narrative of a Mother’s Love) Life has been a long winding road with some sections scenic and colorful, some sections rough. As we travel this journey through life, it’s nice to take time out and reminisce about our journey. Today I would like to jog your memory of some of the milestones along this journey. My mind goes back to being a boy about seven years old, you had developed a lime sized cyst on the back of your right hand from your job of washing clothes and cleaning floors. Trying to get help from the hospital was taking so long that you decided to go to this camp meeting held by some church group out of the U.S.A., of course I went along with you because as you will remember in those days I would not let you out of my sight for a minute. I remember you being in the prayer line with me standing beside you. On our way home this lime sized cyst softened and began to disappear and was gone by morning. Having grown up in Sunday school, I have always heard about miracles, but this was my first and lasting experience of a miraculous healing. I would again like to remind you of the time Standford had that painful hernia condition, and again after many long waits at the Kingston Public Hospital, and not getting to see a doctor, you decided to seek healing for him. I remember you getting up and waking us up before daylight to listen to this radio program about the healing power of God. During this broadcast you would put this small transistor radio on Stanley’s groin and again his hernia disappeared. Titil because of these and other things you demonstrated to us first hand that God hears and answers prayers. You made it impossible for me to doubt the possibilities in Christ. I can also remember other milestones in our life's journey. For example, the time when I was first in my class at Saints School and there was going to be a prize giving, the prize presenter was the wife of the Prime Minister Norman Manley, Things were so hard with us, I had no shoes and by the time the prize giving ceremony came around, you had neither shoes nor even a proper dress for the occasion. I remember that evening you tied the busted up shoes to my feet and you telling me to walk carefully, so as not to break the strings holding the shoes together. It was a challenge, walking to the prize giving that evening without wearing out the strings holding the shoes together, but I did it. As simple as it seems, I learned a lot from that experience. I also remember another milestone; this was the time when it was time to pay to write the GCE examination. After months of trying to put the money together, the deadline was the Monday morning and still on Saturday, the money was not there. You decided to ask Roy for a loan and in response he said he could loan you one pound from his piggy bank in the form of 240 pennies. On Sunday we were still short so you sold your only pair of shoes to make up the money and had to walk barefooted for awhile until you were able to put some money together to buy one of those rubber tire shoes from the Coronation Marketplace. That Monday morning you handed me the money to pay for my exam, I made a commitment to myself that success on my part was no longer an option. Wow Titil, this one almost slipped my mind, I remember during the period as a child when you were trying to teach me to read, you too had difficultly reading the books we were using. I distinctly remember the day after the night you got Holy Ghost( while in bed) how fluently you read. I was in amazement. You then confided in me that you could not read properly, but after receiving the Holy Ghost that night it taught you how to read. Titil what a mighty God you have taught us to love and believe in. Titil, Lastly, I would like to take you back to 1998-2001 the years of my greatest turmoil, although I will always love and be grateful to you for all the things you have done for me over the years, these are the years for which I am most grateful. These are the years which you stood for me like Joshua and would not let the sun go down until you had secured a victory over the evil forces that were fighting against me. I remember you praying through the night and fighting a spiritual warfare on my behalf, vowing you would die with me, but you would not allow any evil forces to take me away from you. Titil you know the rest of the story of how God miraculously healed me and restored what the canker worms took away from me. Titil you have run a long race and have fought a good fight and have done it in Christ. I know and the spirit bears witness that a crown awaits you in glory. With Love and Kisses -Your son Noel Johnson ( Lucille Titil Curtis - mother of Sis. Beverly Grant)
