You do not need to read music or audition, just bring your enthusiasm and commitment to our Sunday sessions at the Vallican Whole, 3762 Little Slocan South Road in Winlaw. Audio files and sheet music will be supplied to help you learn the songs.

Understanding the importance of the setting for every type of creative writing will be the focus of a workshop for fiction and non-fiction authors and poets to be held in Nakusp on Saturday, February 9.

“Everything happens someplace,” Wayman said, “and the setting of a piece of writing can help an author put across plot, character, era and much more.” He said workshop topics will include the politics of writing about the local rather than about New York, London, LA or Toronto. “We’ll explore how time impacts setting: as Einstein noted, place and time are interwoven parts of a single whole,” Wayman said. “And we’ll consider what establishes a sense of the local, regardless of where and when your story, memoir, travel piece, family history or Submitted by Randi Fjeldseth poem may be set.”

Adeline Elizabeth Dixson It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Adeline Elizabeth Dixson (Klatt).

Born in Nemiskam, Alberta to Mary and Rudolph Klatt on January 13, 1926, she was the second oldest of six children. After completing high school at a convent in Medicine Hat she became a telephone operator.

Later she married Gordon Dixson and had five children, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Together they went farming in Foremost and Claresholm Alberta, and ranching in BC. PAGE PAGE 22 22
