Book Club Third Wednesday of the month after Wednesday Tea (around 1:30) we begin book club. A lively discussion for readers who like to dissect their novels. Books for the following discussion are given out at this meeting.

Wednesday - Afternoon Tea Salon at 1:00 PM Enjoy hot tea, dessert, stimulating conversation and a great escape from a busy day. Tea is always served in china and the desserts are always delectable. The first Wednesday of the month we present a book review with Camille DelVecchio from the Penfield Public Library. Registration not required.

Walk the Gym Walk the gym at selected times. Call the Recreation office 340-8655 option 6 to find out the week’s availability.

Thursday Lecture Series Each week, beginning January 30, a free interesting lecture on a variety of topics is presented at 12:30 PM. There is no fee, but registration is required. (See pages 35-36 for detailed information about topic and optional lunches that are available for a small fee.)

Friday Film Series

Please note: films are once a month at 2:00 PM Sponsored by the Penfield Public Library and Penfield Recreation Films are presented in full stereo sound with a large screen format the last Friday of the month. A variety of movies are chosen each month and include classics and recently released films based on availability. You can call the Penfield Recreation Dept. for monthly titles.

Discuss a Good Book This program will provide an opportunity to meet fellow avid readers to exchange ideas and knowledge on a selected topic. We invite participants to choose their own related titles or to read from the suggested text below. Our first topic up for examination is:

Open Mah Jongg This open Mah Jongg time is for experienced players but an instructional class for beginners will be held at this same time for a small fee. Senior Police Academy Penfield Recreation and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office will offer an exciting nine-week Senior Citizen Academy this March. Participants will get a first-hand account of the different agencies and departments that make up the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Classes will meet for nine consecutive Thursdays at Penfield Community Center. A bus will leave from this location to tour many individual departments that make up the Monroe County Sheriff ’s Office. These field trips include the Public Safety Building, Public Safety Training Facility, Emergency Operations Center, Monroe County Correctional Facility, including talks by SWAT, K-9, Mounted Unit, DWI Unit, and many other facilities. Dates and times will be announced on our web-site and in the paper. Enrollment is $6.00 and is limited. Adults 55+ can register for this program at Penfield Recreation Department or by going on-line at www.penfieldrec. org.
