President’s Message: CONFIDENCE What gives you confidence? How confident do you seem to others? Do you inspire confidence in others? Which thoughts or actions do you recognize as confidence in yourself and people around you? What is confidence? Belief in oneself and one's skills or abilities; self-confidence is self-reliance; self-assurance. Realtors® with the most success tend to have the most self-confidence. Confidence usually comes as you gain experience and success. But, when you’re newer in your business you need to compete with a lot of people who are more experienced how will you succeed? Or after you’ve lost that sale or listing do you struggle with confidence? Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives, yet so many people struggle to find it. Sadly, this can be a vicious circle: People who lack self-confidence can find it difficult to achieve success.

Self-confident people inspire confidence in others: an audience, your peers, your bosses, prospects, your clients, friends and even your family. Gaining the confidence of others is one of the key ways in which a person finds success. Your level of self-confidence can show in many ways: your behavior, your body language, how you speak, what you say, your attire and how you feel about yourself. The good news is that self-confidence really can be learned and built on. And, whether you’re working on your own self-confidence or building the confidence of people around you, it’s well-worth the effort! There’s more good news about self-confidence. Attend a CRS® sponsored class and you may quickly gain that confidence and success you want. Your level of self-confidence can show in many ways: your behavior, your body language, how you speak, what you say, your attire and how you feel about yourself. 4
President’s Message (cont.) What is your Minnesota CRS® Chapter up to? 2014 has been an active year and your chapter will be even more involve for the remainder of the year. After popular demand we’re bringing back the annual all-star panel. The All-Star Panel has been one of our best attended events. For 2014 we renamed the all-star panel to “Breakfast of Champions”. This year it was held at Pinstripes in Edina. Attended by 100 Realtors® who listened to six panel members discuss the trends and outlook for the remainder of this year and what’s to come. There are plans to recreate the Breakfast of Champions as a Road Show in other areas of the State: Rochester, Duluth, Brainerd, and Fergus Falls. Featuring each area’s local top producers. On June 26th there was a one day Essential’s course “Converting Leads into Closings” in St Paul. July 14th 1:00 – 4:30 PM CRS® Blood Drive to be held at MNAR offices, 5750 Lincoln Drive Edina, MN. A worthy cause as so many are in desperate need of blood donations. 5
President’s Message (cont.) Get ready for our biggest charity event ever! “Tee Up for Kids”. A charity golf tournament on August 12th at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake. Our goal is $25,000.00 towards our military families. September 8-12th is CRS® Awareness Week. There will be a series of CRS® webinars and classes how being a CRS® designee will increase your success. Our annual boat cruise will be held during this time; stay tuned for date and time. This year, the CRS® Cruise will be on Majestic Lake Minnetonka. As we cruise the Lake you’ll enjoy food and beverage and mingling with fellow Realtors. You may make a new friend or even receive a referral. September 29th CRS® education with Ed Hatch in Rochester. October 17th will have an exciting new event, “Realtors® Mingle Around the World.” This promises to be one of the biggest event CRS® has ever hosted. Due to so much activity and demands upon our time in December we’ve decided to revitalize our annual Realtors Holiday Party and Charity Auction and move to October. We’ve selected a new location, Mingle Show Room on Highway 55 in Plymouth, one of Minnesota’s premier home decorating showrooms. 6
President’s Message (cont.) If you’ve never visited “Mingle” you are in for a special treat! Stop by any time and check them out. Dream kitchens. Splashy baths. Luxurious living rooms, dramatic dining rooms and sumptuous bedrooms – they’re all at Mingle, where seeing meets believing. Our 25,000-square-foot showroom features full-sized, professionally decorated living spaces appointed with the latest in appliances, cabinetry, countertops, furnishings, flooring, lighting, home automation and interior design. Preliminary plans for “Realtors® Mingle Around the World” include food from around the world. Who knows, you might even see the servers dressed in their native costumes. The venue will be a great excuse to dress-up for a night, or come as you are. “Realtors Mingle Around the World” promises to be BIG I have no doubt you’ll be talking about the great time you had. Interested in knowing more about CRS®? Perhaps you’ve been thinking for some time of getting your designation, perhaps now is that time. Perhaps you already have your designation but you have a friend who is curious. We have several opportunities to earn the prestigious designation. I’m happy to take whatever time is needed to discuss how you can have self-confidence and success by becoming a CRS® designee. Call me. â€œExciting Times for the Council of Residential Specialistsâ€? By Steve Stewart, CRS Edina Realty As many of you know, the Council of Residential Specialists hired Lana Vukovljak as our new CEO just over a year ago. Lana has been hard at work challenging her staff and our volunteer leadership to improve, revitalize, and add relevance and significance to our CRS family and the CRS designation. Our leadership has been working hard on developing a new Strategy Plan, new educational programs, new marketing, and more. Many of the new ideas and plans will be unveiled at our National meetings in November. It is an exciting time to be a CRS and to be working with our National leaders. One new program being launched this summer is the CRS One Day Essentials Class. The One Day Essentials series covers three essential skills needed to build a solid, successful real estate practice - whether you are a one person shop or part of a multi agent firm. Each course is eligible for 8 hours of Education Course credit toward the CRS designation and will provide you with take-aways to grow your business and increase market share. There are 3 different Essentials courses: Converting Leads into Closings, Win - Win Negotiation Techniques, and Building a Team to Grow Your Business. Each course will be taught by a top CRS instructor. There will be 30 class offerings throughout the country this year.

Insulation – Ensuring proper insulation in the attic space (don’t forget to seal your attic access panel to avoid air bypass), rim joists and crawl spaces can help keep things more comfortable. These are just a few tips to help cut costs and help maintain a happy home.
